Had a night out years ago in Paisley (maybe 15yrs ago? :? )

Never seen so many fights and they had a curfew thing on whereby if you weren't in a licenced establishment by 10pm (IIRC) you were farked for getting mair bevvy

This was about the same time as the knife amnesty

And that's from a fecking Dundonian! :?

All this because I was chasing a bit of half-norwegian skirt who was studying at the hossie there..... the things you endured in the quest for getting yer toffee-roll, eh?

I think the truth probably lies somewhere between andy_snap and rossybee's views.

In terms of curfews, knives, etc, yes that was the case around '92, but it was the same in a lot of places (Glasgow also had the curfew.)

I still drink there on a regular basis, was at the beer fest the other week and had a great night.

Unfortunately, like most towns these days, the town itself has died a death. Shop units are either empty, or used by charities.
People seem to prefer shopping at out-of-town, indentikit, enormoparks.

I remember, as a lad, getting taken up Paisley High St by me ma and pa on a Saturday afternoon. The town was throbbing, we'd constanlty have to stop and talk to people we knew, and there was always a man with a wee monkey on his shoulder playing a drum. Halcyon times.

Scott couldn't agree more my girlfriend lives in Paisley so I am often there and there are good and bad parts & people just like in most places.
