My weekend review

Fri - Quiet night in saving myself for saturdays shenanagins

Sat - Fun on with 1 horsepower. Saturday was the main day in Dumfries' common riding festival, Guid Nychburris. Started the day off with a champagne breakfast at 7am before jumping on the hired horse a 17hh chestnut mare (big brown lady horse) for the dumfries riding of the marches. Went to the high st in dumfries to meet the other couple of hundred horses on rode the boundries of the town for the next 5 hours. Very civilised as it stops off at a couple of pubs for some refreshments. Non alcoholic of course  and at no point were any hip flaks consumed.Glad i survived the gallops and did not join the 5 people that came off. I did get told off by my mum for taking my hat off during the main gallop and waving it at the crowd. , again! Its a bit of a tradition from us ex- cornets Then off the horse and into the pubs for the rest of the day.

Sun - Woke up in pain as i had not been on a horse for a year :( and off to a mates 30th birthday BBQ. Where i tried to soak up all of the weekends alcohol with burnt food

yep Linlithgow has one of those too, cleaned up a lot of late, although there will still riot vans in the High Street when I drove through at 9pm or so after the last one!

I usually ride Annans marches. Great ride with lots of gallops and i love the big gallop on the beach. We usually head out of town before the brawling starts

my review?

A kilt, the west coast of scotland and standing outside for hours while photos are taken means lots and lots and lots of midgie bites in places where i'd rather not have bites.

Not the happiest of campers today

Spent Fri/Sat/Sun at Silverstone. Ok the final race was a yawn but thoroughly enjoyed the Formula BMW, GP2 and historic sportscar races/practice/quali. Crowds were unreal as were the number of burger/junk food stalls (and the mega prices). Would have been nice to get into the paddock but tickets were expensive enough as it was. Probably never do it again, may consider going down for the Moto-GP next year though.

Epic thread resurrection...

Standard weekend for me - winging entertainment for the boy on Saturday (with the missus at work) and cramming a weekend with the missus into Sunday - try and grab the MotoGP coverage at some stage over that.

Robin and Katie coming up this weekend, bringing good company and my bottle of Laphroaig Select that PeterB bought for me at the auction.

On the other hand I will be eating nut roast for dinner.
