Hmmmm

School bbq last night where all the meat was cooked in the canteen due to food & hygiene gone mad

This am - take kids to their art class in broughty ferry & walk the doag on ferry beach during this time which he loves - more sand in the car boot :D

Then take rossybee jnr to keyboard & wait outside, reading for arf an hoor (on the upside the tutor is a honey, oh yesh indeedy)

Then wash & hoover car, cut grass, moan a bit, then out for drinkiepoos, just me & the missus which will be nice 8)

Father's Day ramorra so fuctifano what the kids have planned, undoubtedly a hand-crafted gift from aforementioned art class <BG>

Fireworks show in Groningen tonight, 9-12pm

Plan to catch F1 on Sunday, but I'm joining a boat trip (teach yourself sailing  ) tomorrow morning .

This weekend I'll just be doing the same as last weekend...Stuck on a rig off the coast of Congo with crap food (well the locals like it but I've never really cared much for cow tongue, pigs trotters and fish head soup) and very little banter. The only reason I'm still here is for cash for an engine conversion or maybe a caterham, havn't decided yet.

Not long home, drunkeness was had, obviously, but also experienced some very sexeh Aston Martin DB9 action. 6 litre V12's are very very nice. Power oversteer in a £100k car FTW.

Missed this thread at start of the weekend.

So my review...

Friday evening

Birthday present shopping for the missus, in her absence obviously but with the kids and my Mum in tow. Moderately successful. Ceramic Experience nacho bowl duly hand-printed etc but shhhh, it's a surprise.

Took Eilidh out in the Elise as she got let down this week when the old crate wouldn't start. Quick buzz over to Doune to see Fd and Nikki, lovely wee run out and the B-roads from Dunblane area are v nice.

Invested the usual mental and physical exertion in kiddie bedtime then collapsed in front of a fish supper at 9-something-pm

Saturday

James' turn in the Elise, to Sainsbury's and back for some breakfast treats.

Back home to disconnect and diagnose a leaky cludgie in upstairs bathroom, nae nice :-(

Caught most of GP qualifying then off to little bro's for most excellent family BBQ, some good chatter and some space for the kids to run off some unused energy. Of which there seems to be much just now, given how long they take to get off to bed these days!!

Once again, Guantanamo mind-games from the 2-yr-old at bedtime and tonight instead of collapsing in front of fish supper at 9.30 I am collapsing into my own bed. <shakes head> Rock n Roll man.

Sunday

Apparently it's Fathers Day. Lisa fends the kids off me as long as she can manage but around 8am they finally burst through the cordon and I'm rudely awakened by cards, presents and some brekky in bed. Hard life eh.

Original plan was to head to Doune for the morning with the kids, but a faulty washing machine put paid to that and after digging about in it somewhat gingerly and fruitlessly, I settle for cutting the grass with Eilidh's help  and readying myself for The Big Race.

Broadly enjoyed the GP. Particularly nice to find James taking his daily nap beside me despite the howling V8s, and then Eilidh deciding to do the same. Except she's too old for naps now and it plays hell with her bedtime routine. Which it did.

Anyway got over to catch tail end of Doune with the family, nice to see Fd and Nikki and Mac and Jonathan and others today. My those single seater V8 type hillclimber things are nuts, and that's just off the start line. Note to self, get back there for longer next time, and get somewhere up the hill.

Made the family dinner (on Father's Day, how does that work), got prevented from watching TG by guess what, kiddie bedtime nonsense, and after watching James May on the moon went out and washed the Family Barge. 1st time in weeks, shocking.

Top Gear on iPlayer and then a checkin with my buddies here on SE. Another weekend bites the dust and again I go back to work more tired than at the start of it. Sheesh.

Sorry I missed you mate, as Fd summed up I was a touch annoyed at the thought that we were going to have to wait until the Top 10 had done their final run off before getting out to out last run of the day.

Still you got to use these things to your advantage and I'm sure me being wound up help towards another new PB :D

We ended up at Solway View http://www.solwayviewholidays.com/. Great little campsite with brand new facilities and lot's of trails to walk around. It's on a working farm, closest place is called Ross, about 7 miles south of Kirkcudbright.

Weather was a bit cruddy though.. :(

My weekend review

Fri - Quiet night in saving myself for saturdays shenanagins

Sat - Fun on with 1 horsepower. Saturday was the main day in Dumfries' common riding festival, Guid Nychburris. Started the day off with a champagne breakfast at 7am before jumping on the hired horse a 17hh chestnut mare (big brown lady horse) for the dumfries riding of the marches. Went to the high st in dumfries to meet the other couple of hundred horses on rode the boundries of the town for the next 5 hours. Very civilised as it stops off at a couple of pubs for some refreshments. Non alcoholic of course  and at no point were any hip flaks consumed.Glad i survived the gallops and did not join the 5 people that came off. I did get told off by my mum for taking my hat off during the main gallop and waving it at the crowd. , again! Its a bit of a tradition from us ex- cornets Then off the horse and into the pubs for the rest of the day.

Sun - Woke up in pain as i had not been on a horse for a year :( and off to a mates 30th birthday BBQ. Where i tried to soak up all of the weekends alcohol with burnt food
