Picked up one today and TBH I'm already a bit disappointed.

Ive had a HTC phone for the last year and been very pleased with its usability and the full qwerty keyboard is great for sending text/email, browsing has also improved after switching to opera.

The iphone has already lost my log in detail text from o2 and 20 mins trying to get the SIM slot out didnt help

Is there a Windows version of the Uploader?

No. FileMagnet is currently Mac only, and requires OS X 10.4 Tiger or higher. We are researching the development of a Windows version of the Uploader.

When I said I was impressed by it and liked it more than the HTC, I was coming from a non-geek perspective. File uploader?

Got a new iPhone 3G today, 10sec to change sims, Jon what were you doing that took 20mins. They even give you the tool for extracting the sim. Sync'd with iTunes up and running in 10mins including downloading the 2.02 update. Now have GPS etc etc. Keyboard and predictive text is magic, never ceases to amaze me how quick you can text/type with this thing. Supposed it depends what your used to. Works seamlessly with Mac, don't know about windows but hey, who gives a sh!t about windows . It's forever crashing anyway, and thats with microsofts own stuff never mind anybody elses.
All in all a good day, new toy to play with :thumbsup

See it is reports like Mike's, that are plain and simply going to make me end up getting one. Being tight though and doing the sums, £800 over 18 months for a phone is a lot of money!

However having said that my current Voda contract i have just totalled and it says £810 and that is a conservative £45 per month.

Someone tell me i am being stupid, don't need yet another gadget, and a PAYG phone would suffice!

I have had a love/hate relationship with Microsoft software for the past 25 years, from MSDOS through to Vista.

However it has kept my brain active into old age, and is probably responsible for my good looks and calm outlook on life. Mainly because I have spent so much time cursing it and trying to get the better of it.

However now it is just plain bloody boring, which is of course is how it should be. Nowadays a computer is a tool not a toy or a hobby, you just want it to work in the background whilst you get on with its useage.

I have XP, SP3 on one hard drive, Vista Home Premium, SP1 on the other, and I can not remember the last time either one crashed. Almost miss the blue screen of death and the challenge of sorting it out without a Format.

Am I on my own, or do others miss the days of Sir Clive, Spectrums, QL's, Amstrad PCW's, all of which I lost my virginity on, but was thrilled when I soldered another 250kb memory chip in, got online to Prestel on a 1100 Modem, hacked into the software to personalise it, went from a monochrome monitor to a colour one with pixels the size of smarties and 8 colours, then went through the upgrade process to the beginning of todays GUI, Windows 3?

OK, so things are slow today, Luke is pissing me off, wants a scooter, wants a Ski Holiday, wants to join the Royal Marines, but in two years and not tomorrow, Verian is out mowing the lawns, and Khan has just knocked my drink over in a display of affection.

Scotty, beam me up............

The more I look into it.. the more flaws I see.. it aint that straightforward..

Some of the negatives I've spotted taht were almost show stoppers for me..

1. Mobile Me wont run on internet explorer.. so when I am offshore I cant access it from the corporate network as the only have explorer installed. So that is some functionality lost already, just hope the eventually sort out a version that will run on explorer as the corporate browser is not expected to change any time soon... but thats more a mobile me issue than the handset itself..

2. Battery life isnt great, alegedly..

Nope no tool and no mention of how to insert the sim at all :( Had to use my HTC to google it

Paying £3 for an application that (in a round about way ) will allow me to transfer files is also a kicker FFS the cheapest nastiest phone on the market will transfer files to my PC for free

Syncing with itunes has also pissed me off, I hate using that pile of steaming pish

TBH if I was having to pay for it id be really pissed off
