It lives again!!!

Many thanks to all who have contributed to the virtual problem solving - especially Robin.

Special thanks to Bob (hiscot) who has spent the better part of 5 hours at my place today in alternate showers/sun shine to diagnose the issue of non-starting...

The inital problem of the engine not even turning over was traced to a stuck starter motor - solved by crossing the terminals with a couple of screwdrivers to clear the jam... :)

The non-running/firing problem was fettled by dismantling, cleaning and re-affixing various plugs, leads, fuses etc, and tracing the power all the way to where it should be. We then pulled the spark plugs out, cleaned them up, turned the engine over using the battery in the wife's Freelander to clear the bores of any petrol that might be in there (probably flooded by now)... we refitted the spark plugs and after a few turns, she coughed back into life :D 8)

Excellent!!!!!

So - S2 suspension already ordered, brake discs and pads required urgently, 2 front lights will be needed for the MOT, but first on the list is anew battery.

Then ready to rock and roll! :drive

Good to hear it is running well again.

I am assuming that you are meaning headlights? I bought mine from D & A Motor Factors (Dundee) Ltd for £24 + VAT each. Miles cheaper than anywhere I could find on t'internet. They are boxed and sold as Valeo (P.N. 460118) but when I took them out of the box they are branded as Cibie. They look identical to the ones that are in at the moment.

I haven't gotten around to fitting them as it passed it's MOT  .

Stewart - it is indeed headlights, the reflectors on mine are shot to hell :( If you want to offload the ones you have 'in stock' i'll gladly take them off your hands...

BTW - I used to supply these lights directly from Valeo when I ran Lotus Ecosse, now I sell components to them 8)

Sorry, I better hold onto them, as I better replace them at some point :D

Didn't realise you used to own Lotus Ecosse. I take your name isn't really Tim? I can't quite remember the history of LE. I remember buying stuff from them when FD ran it.

Timsky is Ian who used to own/run LE before Fd.

Hope that's cleared it up
