Or even the reflectorised stuff (not that I think it would be of great assistance).

Then save up for something with Carbon Fibre

If you do the mod i posted up a while ago you can still use this hose. I read somewhere that there is no performance difference between an induction kit and modding the airbox.

I done this and it gives the car a bit more induction noise and i still run a std filter.

If you cut the plastic intake (circled in white) at an angle (dont take too much off), you can shorten the hose and then route it at a more direct route to the side pod. Theres a guy , RobC IIRC, on Seloc who told me about it. It's on his website somewhere. If you dare post up on the tech section on there, somewhere amongst all the sh*t i'm sure Rob will chipin and show you the way.

Well , the perhaps unsurprising response from MMC Glasgow was that my shiney warranty doesn't cover my cracked pipe. I wonder what sort of 'failures' it does cover...

So, I hate just knowing that the thing's broken so i want it fixed - MMC Edin charge out labour rates at £65/hour and its an hour n a half of a job. Can I do this myself? I have no jacks, and pretty limited knowledge of car mechanics, so I'm thinking no...

Do I need to take wheel-arch liner off to do something like a sanjoy conversion?

I seriously wouldnt bother to replace that hose. It'll make no difference to performance in the slightest. At 6000 rpm the engine is using 200 litres of air a minute, so there will be virtually no time to heat the air in the engine compartment

Smells like bull to me, if it has broken due to material failure under the period of the warranty then where is the problem? Wear and tear? I don't see how? How can they claim it's not covered? As you say, if something major goes wrong what exactly is covered????!

The pipe will take about 1/2 hour to change yourself, just alkward thats all. In true haynes manual stylee, just remove the airbox and swop like for like. Bit tight for someone with forearms like a gorilla but I managed thru the engine cover.

Nothing to worry about, it's only air duct anyway, the old pipe will completely disintegrate into a thousand bits. Either get the lotus bit

or see if you can find a better replacement.

Worth a try, measure the old one & see if they have an offcut.
