CG Lock - great service !!!!

Heard about CG Lock from some of the Scottish Elise boys who rave about it being the perfect practical alternative to full race harnesses but hadn't actually tried one for anything other than a 5 mins blast.

However a couple of weeks ago my car was in at our local pedantic VX fettler for the week to have mounts, discs, pads and a few wee things done so VXJON kindly lent me his yellow plastic sledge for the week (cheers jon ). This also gave me a chance to try out the CG Lock for a reasonable length of time.

In short it works REALLY well.

When i first jumped in Jon's car i was convinced it handled better than mine.............everything just felt much tighter and more controlled. The difference was incredible. It basically "locks" the lap part of the best to keep your arse and hips located while still leaving your upper body free to lean forward etc.

Ok so it's a good product, but why good service?

Well I'm an idiot and i lost the "slider" bit from the top of the CG Lock - thus rendering it useless.

The plan was to buy a new one, give it to Jon and then speak to CG Lock about getting the replacement but or worst case just buying another brand new one.

No need.

I placed my order on Sunday afternoon, and then 5 mins later emailed them to ask about replacement sliders. Then on Sunday evening i checked my email to find an email from Graham at CG Lock saying he couldn't get me a replacement bit but would happily supply a whole new kit if i returned the broken one.

Emailed back with my address details and to say thanks and got this reply.

That is really good of them.

I also tried Jons when I had a goes in his car. It was a very impressive product, but it took me a while to get it on. Ok Jon had to come over and put the seat belt on for me.

Just spent my first day driving with a CG lock today. It definitely makes a difference. Locked into the seat under heavy braking, which will definitely help in my first track venture next week. Also gives much more feel when cornering. Genuinely feel like I'm part of the car now. Harnesses must feel even better, but this'll do me just fine.

Quality....

I first tried one on loan on the borders run last year. Got a loan of one from the nice bloke with the stelvio sticker on his metalic grey/silver S2... sorry, crap with names but I do remember you were quick and I think you recently had a bit of an off.....

Gave it back when I headed off, felt like I was naked without it.

I managed to pick up a cheapy off Ebay for £20 brand new. Why anyone would want to part with it I dont know.

It might be a good solution for my ventures offroad before i finally get round to fitting the 4point harnesses

Hi John, that was me - you must be colourblind like Mac or wearing

as my ex-car was blue, however you're right about the CG lock. Being without it feels strange and it really helped me enjoy Stelvio last year.

As LazyDonkey said the service from them is great. I'd heartily recommend it to anyone who hasn't got one and have my spare available to try. My own one was still on my car when it was taken away by the recovery company and I've no chance of getting it back as the insurance company sold my car for salvage and I've not yet agreed to settle with them!

Good to hear Martin, I started the group buy after being similarly impressed with their service. I bought Shooomer's for £15 (which reminds me, he never gave me change from that twenty...

) It was missing an allen key, so I emailed them asking what size it was. The response was that they'd popped one in the post to me FOC

same good experience here,
received 2 CG locks for my Liz, lacking some of the little screws.
got an Email asking if I was happy, after I mentioned 2 missing screws
instantly replacements were sent .

great service and CG Locks do make a difference infeeling what the car does.
