Geneva Motor Show

Post by ruadh08 » Sat Mar 10, 2007 7:30 pm

Just been at the motor show today, and on arrival headed straight for the Lotus stand. The new circuit car was on display, and looked quite flash with its fancy paint job, but the design is very bland. Even the stand manager said it does not have the impact of the 340r in the flesh. With a price tag of £40k plus, I certainly wont be going down that route.

However, then went to the KTM stand to see the new X - Bow. Wow what a car! I have never been so bowled over by seeing a new car in the flesh, it was simply stunning!! It not only had huge presence, and great new design ideas, but it ouzed quality with its carbon fibre tub etc. Should be reliable with its Audi engine and gearbox as well. Well priced at around £30k.

Lotus will have to think hard if they are going to compete with that.

My order is now placed with KTM, and I have signed on the dotted line. When the car will be available, who knows, but probably well into 2008!

Now sitting down in the hotel with a large whisky wondering how I am going to pay for it.

As for Verona, she is still working out how she is going to climb into the car, let alone drive it!!!

Nearly there with the pics, you need the individual photo url rather than the page url.

Looks good in Evo this month, stunning car! First 100 sold already i believe.

Paul yyour pics don't seem to be working, not sure if it is just Imageshacks linking ability.

Nice one placing the order, EVO did say late 2007 first orders, and middle to late for the last remaining 100.

They are making 100 first at the factory that does their carbon fibre work in Italy. These are all sold and should be delivered to customers in 2007 autumn, at the rate of 5 per week.

They are now taking orders for the next batch due 2008, which may be made in the factory in Austria, and not Italy.

In all I think that hey will be in very short supply for a few years yet.

Untill a UK dealer is appointed, they are offering UK customers to pick up there cars from the factory. Apparantly they will allow Audi dealers to do the service work . Cant wait to see Perth Audis faces if I roll up in one of them !! :tired

The X-bow looks seriously cool. Top choice of toy.

KTM = Not Lotus.

Big in bikes... and looks like they have a winner on their hands with the X-Bow

Great choice :thumbsup

I'm a bit disapointed by the 2-eleven - but the KTM is where lotus should be at. Must be more models spun off the elise chassis than the mark 4 golf chassis.

I think the 'weather protection' extra is limited to buying the KTM jacket and helmet... :D

Nice one. I think the KTM looks superb 8) - the circuit car is very ordinary in comparison. £30k also seems like a bit of a bargain compared to, say, a well specced Caterham CSR.
