Surround sound kit for <Â£300 ?

Opted for a good coax cable till I AMP3 get the dock I want.

Can anyone help me as I think I am being a dinkus.

Connection the digital coax to the amd digital coax. I have used a quality coax but it is not working. It worked after some fiddling then stopped. Is a normal qual coax the same as a digital one ? Surely it is right ?

Might also be the setup on the DVD deck which I have asked on an AV forum but thought I would check with those in the know on here too.

I take it you've told the amp that you actually want to use the digital coax-in as your audio input when you select the DVD as the source on the remote??

Might be worth double checking the amp isn't defaulting to optical or composite inputs etc. when you select the DVD mode ....

Yup amp was fine, went through the setup of the dvd again from scratch as if factory reset and all working fine, me being a doofus. Tested it with opening sequence of Cannonball run (Watch it prior to the Oz GP every year).

Connecting the rest up with the following, all look normal ?

Sky+ optical
Xbox optical Item number: 290085876110
DVD digital coax
Ipod coax

Kit is all up and running now and more than happy. Currently running a kwality phono connection to the ispod but saw this in my local hifi shop and now on gizmodo...

Anyone ?

God knows Sanjoy... I've just got a Linksys wireless media thing connected to my Yammy Amp, and I can then stream my music from the PC in the other room using the home network.

I guess it's down to what you are expecting from it. A couple of years ago I had a friendly arguement over a glass of vino in the South of France with a dude from Chester who claimed he was an audiophile (or whatever they are called). His arguement was that the mp3's and the like couldn't match up to the power of old vinyl or tapes as it's just sampled crap.... twat.

So I guess he would disapprove of this... in case you are bothered.

You can agree with him to an extent. All depends on the quality of your MP3. I wnet through a ver boring stage of my life updating all my MP3s with top bit quality version.

Currently I am using the ipod with cable and also the xbox I wit h xbox media centre to stream from the server for music and video.
