Edinburgh Eateries NLC

Taking a couple of customers to the Scotland v Ireland game on Saturday. Don't know Edinburgh that well. Looking for recommendations for a meal and beers after the match? La Piazza has been recommended in Shandwick Place but don't know if too quiet, never been?

Omar Kayham Indian at Haymarket is lively but could be mobbed...need to book to be sure I reckon.

Olorosso on Castle Street is impressive, quality, though expensive. Cracking steaks.

Cento Tre Italian on George St is very nice indeed and not badly priced.

Smokestack on Broughton St is a personal, long term fave but maybe a bit far east for a bite after Murrayfield!

The Dome on George Street is also worth a shot, grand surroundings of a former Banking Hall with - appropriately - huge domed ceiling.

HTH

La Piazza is our local Friday lunch venue with work - nice place and is usually busy, lots of choice of your usual pizzas and pastas and cold bottles of peroni what more could you want!

For posh nosh, I can't look past The Tower... the bill starts to rocket as soon as you even look at the wine list though.

For normal Beer & Grub, how about Hard Rock Cafe on George Street... it's at the wrong end from where you'll be, but you can check out all the bars along the way.

Bar 32, West End of George Street... foods OK, and there's the communal toilets...

make sure you get your finger out and book soon! I had a nightmare getting anywhere after the Ireland game. Ended up eating in Brown's in George Street as they have a first come, first served policy on tables :thumbsup

D'oh - Italy game I meant

And hopefully 8 or 9!

Thanks for your recommendations guys, must try them all. We've booked 'The Dome' on recommedation, anyone been? Was told to avoid 'Brown's'.

Cheers

I found the dome good for drinks and a bit noisey when eating.

I'm a big fan of The Dome. Never been disappointed with the food or the service there. I like the cocktail Bar there for drinks too. Good choice IMHO.

Just a bit.

Did I mention Tom Ed and I shared and 18 year old last Friday night, Ed was a bit slow in getting in there and Tom had to finish for him.
