What a privilege...or an opportunity to fail very publicly!
I was honoured to be offered the keys during Lawrence's demonstration run.
Fundamentally, it's a grown-up Elise. Not bigger grown up, but more mature grown up, IYSWIM. Refined, well screwed together, easier to get into (though harder if you are used to the S1 Fosberry Entry).
To drive, it feels like...a "30-something" Elise, rather than a late Teenager as most S1s do...smooth, assured, needs to prove nothing. Driving position is totally familiar. Gearshift slightly longer throw but more positive. Main impact...pulls from 30 in any gear (told you it was a 30 something). Very good for the TDI drivers amongst us. And when those extra 2k rpm are available after the first oil change, it will be a flyer.
If I had the requisite funds sloshing about, I think I'd order one just to have the experience.
I should point out that it's childsplay to operate. Literally. Eilidh scrambled onto my lap, engaged first and attempted to turn the key to start it

Thankfully Dad got to the clutch pedal first and no harm was done. Oh and apparently she had another go, on her own, but only after she'd fastened her seatbelt.
The Europa is no Boxster-killer from an interior point of view. But it could well be from an enjoyment point of view...

PS - Lawrence, ta for the new avatar inspiration...can I have the other pics you took of us too?! Cheers
