:-) Me too - I even had a nap this afternoon to catch up!
After that things got better including a 105 tuts spin, which was fairly spectacular apparently, I had my eyes shut so wouldn't know.
I was standing next to Andrew at the time and we watched you approach take off speed and simultaneously said "that's not going to work" - I guess we were right ;-)
Cadwell was great, so glad we got a couple of hours of dry track, such a fun circuit definitely going back.
I'll be back there some time for sure - it's great - would love to do a summer day there, even at twice the price ...

Cheers,
Robin

Just noticed my tyres are close the wear bar, hopefully I'll manage to nurse them through the next couple of weeks and give me a good excuse to kill them off at SIDC day before Donington.

My bank balance isnt going to like this.

Ps. Robin, how much do I owe you for the hotel room? Forgot all about it.

One of your overtaking manoeuvres looked close on A68 last night
Yes, I was ashamed and annoyed at the same time.

The guy was tapping his brakes all the time and cannot have been doing more than 40 - had he managed 55 and not been tapping the brakes I would have followed him 'cos I was tired and it's easier to see the road when someone else is driving it for you ;-)

Anyway, I pulled out to overtake him, only to spot that the car about 150m ahead had stopped and put on his right turn indicator since I had looked no more than a second ago - I was already alongside and I had the impression you had already pulled up to close the gap and for sure you couldn't have seen the car stopped ahead as we would be blocking your view so decided I had to go for it - though I wasn't yet exactly sure where I was going to go if the stopped car remained stopped ... Then mr 40mph decides he's going to speed up (probably oblivious to everything going on around and ahead of him), closing the window for me - the final straw was when the turning car dived right (relief for me) to reveal someone coming the other way (oh feck) at a more than healthy pace. So I had no choice but to leave it to the last second and then pull in and either force the guy to brake or collect his nose - wasn't going to have a head on in the elise - I like my feet the way they are!

Anyway, it just goes to show that when tired your powers of observation and reasoning are not as fast ... as you probably noticed in the dark when tired I only overtake when I am triply sure that I can make it - this was an exception and it proves I am right to be over-cautious ...

Enjoyed the run up the hill to the border - it really is a great bit of road and super grippy to boot :-)

Cheers,
Robin

I had this happen to me once, it's a real chestnut of a problem...in my case the car turning right wasn't close enough to the farm track turning to have pulled up, so as in your case I chose to "go for it"...On reflection there is no way he'd be re-checking his driver side mirror before making the turn so had he got to the track before me, it'd have been a T-boner for sure :-(

I have had only one other genuine "ashamed" overtaking moment, in a queue of traffic en route to Ballachulish via Connell and the coast road from Oban. Stuck at the back of a 45mph snake, got to a good straight, started the manoeuvre by the book only to find the whole snake coming to a halt to let a guy out of a layby on the left...all gaps closed up, me on wrong side of the road building up to 80 tuts when an oncoming car emerges around the bend ahead. Dived through one remaining gap in the queue, straight across them into the layby, jumped on the anchors and pretended I meant it ;-) Sat for 5 mins in silence before apologising to Lisa - who looked like she'd just stuck her finger in a power socket kind of like this  - then moved off and cruised slowly enough that we didn't catch the snake again before our turn-off to Oban :-(

All valuable learning.

No way.

After 145,000 miles in the clockwork mouse, there is no way that you aint going to hit moments. I can not put my finger on any scary overtake ones in recent history, but in the early miles before I knew the car, and overated my ability, I was lucky to get away with thinking the car could do anything.

The one a few of the oldies will remember was I think the Snake Pass, could have been on the way back from Donnie in 2000. I was at the back of our group of 8 or so, and there was a queue of cars in front of us, but I had my B & C 140, and there was a long open left hander that you could see going down, then uphill, so I went for it. Managed to tuck in behind the very front car as one came round the bend, it was not actually that close, but must have appeared so to every one behind.

Mind you that was in my near teen age years, a lot wiser now, especially driving a left hooker.
