Direct route for me, 6 hours of driving ahead of us so not really in the mood for country roads in the dark.

If its just us two Dreghorn Shell suits me best as a meeting point, I can try to be a bit earlier if I can. I'll give you a call when I am setting off from Glasgow (pm me your mobi number) that way we can maybe get an early start.

Yeah direct route works for me, especially if theres rain. Think D and 4mil are planning on heading down there together. What time are you thinking of leaving Paul?!

Is it something that for example Dan could fix?! You could always drop in on the way down?!

I have a K-Pro if that would help.

Hi Neil,

Sounds like its probably a temperature or pressure sensor fault.

Give me a bell if you like. Would be a shame to miss out on the day.

Dan, do you have the equipment to hook up a Kpro to do a diagnostic check?? Also, do you have spare senors in stock??

My current thinking is that it isnt the water temp, as that causes the limiter at 5000rpm when cold. It does work when cold, and i can go above this when hot, so all seems well.

Its not the gearbox speed sensor, which also limits the car to 5000rpm, and again, i can get above this.

The cam phasing and low oil pressure switches would both give the symptoms i am seeing, but i have checked the switch end and all seems fine. No corrosion or water.

There is a touch of green mould (verdigris) on a couple of wires that go into the ecu plugs. I think its more likely that these are affecting the signal from the sensor rather than the sensor itself, although this is pure guess work on my behalf.

Dan, if you have the software to hook up to my kpro to do some diagnostic work, and if you have time on thursday, then i may well head down. If we can sort it then i will go on and do the trackday, if you cant, then i can head home.

Just noticed this post Neil, sorry. Glad you got it sorted anyway. Make sure you get a cover made up for the relays and the ECU.

BTW, not 100% sure, but a colleague of mine might be heading to Cadwell for this session in his Caterham R400 crazy something or other, I think.

Name's Stuart Bampton, top bloke, if anyone does come across him, say hi from me and show him the customary SE friendship and camaraderie!
