sometimes look black...is that when you've not washed the car for a while?

You need to really see it in the flesh. If your in C'nauld, it should be near you. Pop in and have a look at the different finishes they do. I got the 4 wheels refurbed and a buckle taken out for around £200

I am getting mine done, twill be a miracle if they can be resurrected as they really are disgusting, but although my car is non standard under the bonnet, I have always wanted it looking as an original S1, so I will be sticking as close as I can get to the silver/ali factory coating.

I agree with you, the original 5 spokers look best in silver. Too pretty to hide away under shadowy paint.

The newer style 12 spokers are probably best painted black so you don't notice they are not 5 spokers ;)

I agree with you too. That dark silver is the *only* colour for Victory rims.

I don't like black wheels on just about any car, unless they are very clean they just dull it all down.

I am a silver wheeler at heart, and indeed Lisa's mirror finish BBS rims on her black GTi Anniversary are probably the best looking wheels I have ever had the pleasure to clean :-)

As for options, an anthracite or gun metal finish could be a nice compromise...when clean they will sparkle in the sun but when dulled, won't be quite as tacky as black (which I always think look like they have lost their wheeltrims!!!)

As for the question about matching finishes, JP Coatech from Carnoustie did a fine job on my summer rims, in a finish called "Bright Sparkle" or maybe it was "Shimmer"...can't recall now...but they are quite "shimmery" when clean. The silver is a shade darker than original, so the "Sparkle" version might hit the spot for you. They have a wide range, phone up and ask to talk to Ewan. Oh and they were in the £40 per rim ALL IN ballpark.

i got Exige wheels for the track so i could run A048's - love them.

It makes the car look more menacing - still like the silver efforts also, but not the understeer going back to the thinnner fronts brings back (and the t1r rubber they are covered in!).
