well it was snowing in motherwell yesterday and it's snowtastic in glasgow at the moment - fortunatelly i've came into work with the company audi not the elise.
here's a cold weather related problem for you. when i just get in the elise and turn it on it has problems turning over cos the bl00dy lights automatically turn on - even when i've just turned then OFF! close the car up at night - lights definetelly off then in the morning when the car is cold and i start it up the lights are ON and sooking the charge out of the battery and making the car hard to start!
what gives?

And the moral of the story is, buy an old cheep Audi S6 avant (quattro) and put snow tyres on it. It has a heater powerful enough to melt chocolate when idling....
The snow has saved me a fortune, Lesley was at me to buy her a new car. (some bloody volvo estate thing) This snow has reminded her why we went for the big silver 4wd lump in the first place. So all I need to do now is put a new ratiator in it and we are keeping it... Sorted.... Money stays in pocket...
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....

Ninja,
I'm soo glad this is happening to you. I thought I was the only one!!
Your battery is on the way out. I've found (but never had it verified by another S2 owner) that when the ECU finds the battery voltage too low to crank and run the car it turns the lights on.
Why? No idea.
But if you put jumper leads onto the battery they won't come on and your car should start.
Cheers
Mac
