Just swapped the OE Hankooks for Cross Climate 2s on our Mini last week.
Never rated the Hankooks despite them doing well in comparison tests.
Michelins seem an improvement so far.
That site for genuine wheels is a good find though, I just assumed the dealer was the only place for genuine wheels.

eBay's also good for genuine wheels. I got a set of brand new ones from Germany for about 40% of what they'd cost here. Mine came from this seller but there seem to be a few who do it https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/penzv

Cheers Neil- bought genuine used winter wheels for the BMW from a similar seller on eBay but never seen anyone selling brand new ones before.neil wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 7:38 pmeBay's also good for genuine wheels. Not bad at all though, offsets and width differences are not huge.
Love a mucky MINI (the wife not so much!).

Re: Winter tyres. Discuss.
I’ve never changed tyres for winter and never knew of anyone to do it growing up. However, I’m seeing more folk talk about buying winter sets. Is it a new thing or have you guys always done it?

Been on the up since tough winters of 2009 and 2010 and the weirdness of climate change.
(Look back at when the thread started )
A few of us who have worked in Alpine regions or have friends that do, became aware of the advantages of winter (or simply all-season) tyre compounds for the great Scottish winter.
It’s not just about snow. Winters / all-seasons generally have better grip and braking capability in cold wet weather / standing water. Of which we get much up here obvz

Just realised this thread started over ten years ago
It makes sense to have better grip and braking especially now I'm carrying precious cargo rather than just myself.
I picked up a suzuki swift sport so will see how I get on with the skinny wheels but will also price up some winters for it now!

Once you have used them in anger you will be annoyed you hadn’t done it sooner.

Also stops your fancy (probably diamond cut) summer wheels getting wrecked by the salt
Like Campbell said, I first used winter tyres on a rwd BMW during the winter or 2010 (having not been able to take it out of the garage the previous winter!) and have done so on all my cars since.
