I think the fact most/many of us have happily bought car(s) from MMC is a reasonable indicator that Graeme is good at his job and well respected. Folk usually say how helpful he was without being prompted.

The fact that most/many of us are prepared to travel far away from MMC for servicing/aftersales is a good indicator that they are less good and less well respected for that side of things.

Perhaps when aftersales starts impinging on sales then things might change. I would still buy a car from them and service it elsewhere.

Er, looks like i opened a can of worms with my first message. Appologies for causing some friction. Perhaps the MMC technician involved in my case was just having a bad day. The bottom line is we're all just looking for a decent service at a fair price from someone we trust. I feel that Jude Performance provide that service and that's where i'll be heading from now on.

On a lighter note, check the weather!

They're running a private business - it's up to them how they do it - you don't like it, don't do business with them.

Accusing Paul of collusion in some fraud is a step too far - if you knew him you would know that's bollocks.

What you said about Graeme is just outrageous. I could just as well accuse you of the same thing, with just as much fact to back it up. The "unfounded comments" is priceless considering what you just said about the salesman ...

With communication skills like those just demonstrated, forgive me if I am not falling over myself to enter into business with you. Will you talk to disgruntled customers like this?

Best of luck with your new venture.

Robin
I agree Robin.

As I said above, Greame has always been helpful. Furthermore, John and Bill in servicing and repairs are great. However, they are let down probably by a few other workers who care less about doing their job well.

While I do not agree with Shoomer's remark about honest mistakes entirely, accusing him in that way is defamatory.

If I am not correct about this, I am sure Greg will correct me (as per yesterday  ). You will have noticed that I was put in my place by our resident legal expert after trying to be clever.

Over to you Greg........... :)

I'm afraid I strongly disagree with that and I have nothing good to say about the current state of the service department.

Exactly my point. Personal experience varies, but the generality is that service is poor.

TBH - why doesn't this get complied and mailed to the MD of the JM group. There's no point the agree/disagree nature of this thread.

As long as what people are stating is factual and not based on assumptions, I suspect Gordon Nisbet would like to hear about this.

I know I would if there was a thread like this about my company.

Lets try and keep this constructive rather than falling in to a SE*OCK like date about MMC. (don't mean to preach)

As for some of the personal comments on this thread, its possibly the worst post I've seen on here since SE2 started.

Graeme is good at his job....his job is to sell cars and that's what he does best. I had a wee rift with MMC which was eventually sorted but I still think the service department and their prices are awful.

Lot's of good reviews with Dan but for me, Newcastle is too far.
I will continue to use Falkland who have never (so far) put a foot wrong with me.

My recent complaint letter to Lotus was CC'd to Gordon Nisbet and the sales manager at Glasgow MMC where I bought my car. The only one that actually gave a toss and offered further compensation was the sales manager at Glasgow MMC. I've not even had an official response from MMC to the letter I sent to Gordon Nisbet. Lotus have responded, but their attitude was terrible. I get the impression Lotus actually don't care if we're having bad experience with our cars or a dealer.

I wrote to him personally and he called back within 24 hours.

I'm not wanting to enter this arguement, merely stating a view point.

If you feel that its a waste of time its your opinion

Agreed.
If anyone feels anything needs moderated that we've missed (not just in this thread) please just PM myself, shug, Ed or ironside about it.

I have to say that I think this purge against MMC is getting a little out of hand, and is rapidly developing into a witch hunt. :chainsaw
So I think it is only fair to balance it out with some better experiences of their service.

I, along with Robin, Campbell and others being the original SE'ers, have probably been dealing with MMC longer than most of you young wippersnappers!
Laughing

I have bought 4 cars over the years from them, and found them very good to deal with (Not always the cheapest). Graeme is a very professional salesman, and is a rare breed of car salesman who actually knows his product inside out.

Bill, in the Service Dept is currently helping me out with a problem on the 340r (Which I didnt buy from them) and couldnt be more helpful.
When I had a major problem with the 111r last year that was not straightforward, they went well out of the way to get it sorted, and fought well my corner to get Lotus to pay for it, as well as still making sure that I had a decent car to run around in.

Everybody is entitled to air their grievances on this list (And quite rightly so) but please lets keep it to a civil level, without resorting to insults!

So lets not lose sight of the friendship and comraderie that SE is famous worldwide for!! :D
