Spinnin around - training?

Right, thought i'd own up... (at least get there before Stephen and Craig shop me!)

Took the car out yesterday for my 1st dry run, pulled out of my street, then 200 yards down the road went round a roundabout and 'stamped' on the accellerator coming off of it.
Next thing i know, i was facing the other direction!!

At least she's warned me and I now respect her more than ever! Lucky i didnt break anything!

Whats the deal with the driver training? Can we get a group buy/ order to get Walshy up the road as i know of a few people who would put their name down.
Don't really want to dirve all the way down south!

Doubt you'll get walshy to come up here, don't think it's worth him bothering as he can make as much down south without the expense of travelling and accommodation.

Maybe worth investigating hiring Crail out for a day again. This keeps getting brought up and I can't remember if Willie will still hire it out but last time we did it it was very cheap for around 15 people to have use of the airfield for a day.

i emailed them last night to enquire about training but have not heard anything other than a receipt to say they have read it.

i'd definitely be up for that - the more space (without kerbs) the better

I dont know how you would get it to spin, in the dry, on a roundabout. Without at least maybe trying.

I have to say, I am bemused how people manage to spin so much.

I struggle to get mine out of shape in the wet, without being totally stupid with the throttle.

Maybe a lot of it is down to tyres. Or diesel!

I've only managed to spin it in the wet. Managed to go sideways in the dry. I was simply driving beyond my own limits and going too fast. The wet one was due to the conditions and not respecting the throttle enough! Same as you Ross, just off a roundabout.

I think a lot of it is down to experience and I've definitely learned from it and respect the car more now. I now drive like a granny in the wet!

I definitely want to do a Walshy day next year (perhaps Spring time). I'd be willing to drive down south for it, but it would be even better if we could get him up here. From recent conversations with folk on runs/meets, I know there are several people who would also be up for it. Surely if we can get enough people together and work out a price that makes it worthwhile for Walshy's travel/accomodation, he'd be willing to come up? I'd be willing to pay more than the usual price if it meant he was up here.

ive made the trip down to see walshy at North Weald. Well worth the trip!

The problem you'll have is that he is fully booked down south for ever so little in it for him to travel up here. Also you won't get as many as you think, so by the time you've considered paying more, you're as well booking a group of you in down south and biting the bullet ...

If we can get Crail or even Stobbo camp then I'd be well up for setting some shapes out for a bit of fun learning.

Mac tried to get some folk in on a similar day at KH recently that Jason did but the organiser doesn't like Elises.

It may be worth asking KH for a price for using the bottom paddock but I suspect some ridiculous price unless John S can wave his magic wand

Come and give the autotest at Kames on Saturday a go. Easy open routes, with plenty of room for a few spins. Ideal place to learn some car control. See meets section for info.

In my first few days of ownership, I also decided to test just how fast the car could accelerate, just as I'd come away from a roundabout.

Didn't appreciate at the time, but it had started raining lightly - next thing I was on the opposite side of the dual carriageway, but thankfully now facing the correct direction and came to a halt quite nicely in a bus layby. Scary, but a lesson learned.

Would deffo be up for anything that could improve me, to allow me to push the car a bit more.

I will be up for a walshy day as soon as i get a new car. Would be good if he came up here but dont mind going down south if we need to.
