Lotus website revised
Hello all
Just a quick heads-up - the website's been revised again, to make it much easier to download brochures and view test drive reviews and social coverage.
The new used car locator content will increase over the coming weeks as we receive more dealer data

Cheers G

Re: Lotus website revised
Graeme - can you fix the specs for the Evora410? (edit: I originally said 400 - oops - now corrected)
Current power & torque figures cannot be correct - as discussed in this thread. Something is not right.....

Nice update to the site.
Noticed the Exige V6 Cup R and GT4 still on the site, can people still order these cars?

Re: Lotus website revised
The comments relate to 410 stats, not 400, correct?

Re: Lotus website revised
Hi Graeme,
Yes - only the 410 stats are wrong.
Hopefully this isn't an insulting level of explanation, but to explain what I mean.....
Power isn't measured - it's derived (from torque & rpm).
The calculation (for bhp and lbs/ft) is very simple :
Power = (Torque x rpm)/5252
If you plug 410bhp at 7000rpm into this equation, it is clear that you need to be making 307.62lbs.ft of torque at this point.
As the 410 spec sheet states max torque of 302lbs.ft at 3.5krpm (exactly the same as the Evora400), the maths doesn't work.
Either
a. The 410 isn't actually making 410bhp (which would not be good)
b. Your quoted max-torque figure should be higher (which would be good - unless you've promised your gearbox provided you won't go over 302 lbs.ft of course)
c. Your max torque figure is correct, but peak power is actually delivered at more than 7000rpm. Something like 7200rpm. (which would be good - unless you've promised your engine supplier a max rpm below this level.... and since my S1 Evora can rev to 7200rpm - I don't see that as likely).
I had already asked the question to @grouplotusplc on twitter, but no response.....

Never heard of this before, was under the impression things are a bit more complex than that. Every day's a school day.mik wrote:

Nice web site Graeme![]()

But then you have to ask why the power figure is so important..... Which leads you into the complexity.

Re: Lotus website revised
.....and indeed you are correct with your proposed formula (interesting that it's two x pi, that's why divided by 5252...)

Re: Lotus website revised
That is why if you look at a RR graph Dom, the power and torque curves should cross at 5252rpm.

Graeme - as highlighted by JayEm on TLF....
on the 410 page
1. The "aerodynamics" image is a 400, not a 410
2. The "Chassis" section is titled "chasis"
