Re: Cycling - NLC
agree... i once did an mtb race course on a road bike for fun. survived just fine...hendeg wrote:I'm thinking a gravel bike would be more suited to this type of event rather than a 'full' cyclocross. It's 48 miles on road and 33 miles off road, mostly fire track. I can't see myself getting into cyclocross racing anytime soon and the gravel bike would make a better winter steed for the road.

Tony Yule bought his cannondale slate for this very purpose,
gravel bike is totally what you need,
Cotic do lovely ones that wont brake the bank and have 105 groupset,
or you could just man up and do it on a hardtail with the right tyres for the job

Be nice to see your old bike built
If those tyres don't fit the bike you buy (im sure they will) let me know, ill buy them off you for my 1990 Raleigh Triathlon.
I got new forks for the MTB the other day
140mm Rockshox Yari's. cant wait to get out and have a play this weekend and see how different they are to the 120mm Reba's it had.

Re: Cycling - NLC
I bought a GT Grade roadbike in the wiggle sale recently, bloody excellent bike, very light and is capable of offroad too, not quite full cyclocross but probably gravel and paths etc. Came with slicks so tyre change required for the rougher stuff.
The 105 version is currently on wiggle for £700.
