Post by Scotty C » Sat Oct 01, 2016 12:25 am

Had a mates wife looking to give her hubby a driving experience for his 50th.

Anyone give me any suggestions?

Never done it, but Palmersport days always get great reviews (from mates with proper metal, go on track fairly regularly etc). Not cheap, but I''d love to do one.

I had Gift Experience Scotland voucher for my 50th. Used it 2 weekends ago at Ingliston. Had 3 laps in Aston DB9, 4 laps in Ferrari California, 3 laps in Lamborghini. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Despite negative press reports on the California I loved it and will sell a kidney for one. No longer have 007 fantasies which was an eye opener. didn't like the Lambo after the first too, cruder than an Elise S2 lol.

( Chavvy BMW's & Porches were also available but why bother).

A group of my MTB pals did this in 2011, all raved about it as well. I was overseas so couldn't go.

Another from same lot did an ice driving weekend on a Scandinvian lake in middle of winter, enjoyed that more than the Palmer weekend, different sort of control.

I did this a couple of years ago

A fantastic experience.

Value for money I think the Porsche driving experiences at Silverstone are amongst the best.

For ice driving, this has to be the ultimate http://www.lapland-ice-driving.com/tariff-season-2017/

I should quantify this by stating I have been on a couple of Palmer days and you want for nothing. There is no waiting about, there are constant fillers of karting, driving the 16 wheeler truck in between the headliners etc.

Bought my Elise 2 months after driving on at a Palmer day.

This was back in the day of corp entertainment in 2001/3 though.

How about a day or two with a 50 year old car?
I got a mate a voucher from www.vintage-classics.com.
They're based well down south but it could be the chance to plan a memorable trip for the two of them!
My mate chose this:

Make a generous donation to the SE charity and I'll take your friend out for an Hour in my car for free. Over 600bhp per tonne, will leave him smiling for a while, maybe tie in with others for a mini run out at the same time. Let me know
cheers

Palmersport is different class. It's the best experience in the country. It is about £800+ vat. However might be worth giving Kenny Gorrie atPerformance Portfolio and hiring one of theirs for the weekend and going for a run? If she does feel free to drop my name as they know me.
