N3 TUT repair.

Post by tut » Mon Sep 19, 2016 5:02 pm

Just arranging for N3 to be repaired and there are two approved Garages in my area, Dicksons of Forres/Inverness and Lawrence of Kemnay.

Anybody had any dealings with them?

I've no experience of Lawrence of Kemnay, but they are just along the road in Inverurie (moved a while ago but kept the name). I wasn't aware LOK did bodywork, but I guess it might be part of the business. If Kinghorn was an option I'd go a few more miles and let them do it.

No indication on their site Kerry that Lawrence do repair work. Dicksons look promising but will check tomorrow if Kinghorn are on their list as they have an excellent reputation.

Approved would be better in some respects as ERS give them the go ahead, they collect the car, no assessor required to check the damage, provide me with a courtesy car, and they are only 29 miles away.

What happened Tut?

Lawrence of Kemnay have done a few very, very good bodywork jobs for a friend of mine who runs a garage in Kemnay.

I've had excellent work done by Kinghorn. Good work by Paint Technic and NE Autobody in Aberdeen. Very poor work from Kintore Autobody and, worst by a long shot, Autospray in BoD.

Came out of an awkward junction near Kemnay three weeks ago on the way to a Lotus event and was hit by a car driving in the same direction.

My fault as I did not seem him, but just the pax door and sill damaged.

Oh no, glad you weren't hurt though.

You could also try PPS Glassfibre in Inverurie if you're stuck - they're supposed to be good with plastic repairs

Kinghorn are not on the approved list, so just took the backroads down to Forres to let Dicksons have a look at it. They look to have a good setup up there and and I was impressed with the Bodywork Manager's lateral way of thinking on possible outcomes. He has also repaired several Elises.

He will put in an estimate to the Insurance Company so I will take it from there. Be surprised if Lotus can come up with a door and sill from off the shelf.
