Clutch Pipe between Fluid Reservoir and Master Cylinder

Post by Ferg » Mon Aug 29, 2016 1:45 pm

Hi,

Was looking up this pipe (10cm long) for order and not only is it Factory Order but it's stupidly expensive! £50+vat

https://www.deroure.com/partinfo.asp?MA ... PBID=40286

Has anyone replaced this with FuelHose or another similar solution? Or am I faced with paying this and having an undetermined wait time from the factory?

:(

Is it an odd diameter? I would use a piece of brake bleed hose. That way the material is designed for the fluid.

It's 2, slightly, different diameters at each end. I bought something else a year ago from, I think, Merlin Motorsport for much less than the oem pipe. It appeared to work, but haven't had it on the road yet.

That's interesting Woody. Did you get pipe that could accommodate both or did it have a reduction?

And importantly. Something I'm struggling to find anywhere, does anyone know the two inside diameters?

Boiling water to stretch it?

This is what I got:

Pretty sure I found it via seloc and it'd been used by someone on there with no issues. I got 200mm and it was the correct length without cutting. Changed both ends to jubilee clips to accommodate the different sizes. No leaks at the time, remember it's not under pressure, but everything was striped down again shortly after fitting.

That's brilliant! 200mm sounds quite long, did you loop it between the reservoir and the master cylinder?

Yeah, you need to. The original is shaped, so this being just straight hose needs a bit of curvature. I ordered 200mm expecting to have to cut it.
