spot on.

Ignoring the LH/NR fiasco, it actually was one of the better races to watch.

I honestly did not think Max or Kimi would manage to keep their tyres till the end, I though Vettel had it, right up to the last 4-5 laps when it became clear they were all on the edge of their tyres.

Felt sorry for Ricciardo, he/team called it wrong, but at the time, they had to make the call and that seems like the right one, albeit on the wrong lap (else he would have had 3rd).

Back to Max, it's been clear he is a talent, just did not expect it to happen this fast.

Shame the FIA have screwed the rules so we are never going to see a 18 year old do this again.

You could easily argue that rosberg was in the right setting for the start, even though he was in the wrong one.

They both got off the line pretty much together, however rosberg then managed to drive right round the outside of him. It's just he didn't change it back quick enough...

If it were me, I'd be doing my start in that setting again for the next race, I'd just be a little more on the ball in swapping back over next time!!

To be fair it was the best race for a long time, I didn't fall asleep as I normally do and we didn't really know who was going to win til the last few laps. HelI, I even watched the post race stuff and I never do that!!
If you need to go even faster, just imagine you are me.

For the conspiracy theorists, do you think the Ricciardo strategy change was a ploy by Red Bull to get some much needed publicity, with a Max win ?

No, I think they were just in a battle trying to out wit Ferrari, both teams rolled the dice and split strategies. IMHO the long final stint for Vers'nnn and Raik'nnn was a bit of a gamble... which paid off.

That thought crossed my mind too.
I quickly dismissed it since the commentary team were taking about tyres only supposed to last 25 laps, making it seem like they were risking it, but then Ferrari changed Vettel's strategy, which for me was an indication that they realised the 3rd stop want going to work since overtaking was so hard.

I don't know what to think, but I also don't know if it matters. Max did a great consistent job against Kimi, kept his cool to the end, and took the first of many wins I'm sure.

Would Kvyat have won if he had still been in the RB?

No, I don't think he would. To finish there not only did the cars in front have to get out the way but also you had to hold your own position through all the phases of the race. I bet he (Kvyat) would have burnt up his tyres trying to stay ahead/defend against Kimi. It's not as easy as it looks on TV :-)

Cheers,
Robin

how so?

off the start line they run a 'launch' map, once they got to turn 2 then disengage this and drop back to whatever 'Race' mapping they have selected.

what Rosburg had (not) done was change the selected map from the one used for the green flag lap (used to charge up the battery and warm everything up), once he had stopped on the grid, he then selected the start procedure, etc etc etc.

Come turn two/three, he's back on the warm-up lap map and thus sitting in a lame duck, hence LH all over him and his panic switch setting and subsequent lat/clumsy blocking manoeuvre.
