Curved is allegedly better for maintaining picture quality at a wider range of viewing angles than flat. I notice my flat screen colours go a bit off at side angles... Curved is meant to mitigate that.

Wall mounted = flat.

On a stand = curved

Imho

From any point directly ahead of the TV your viewing angle will improve; from any point outside it will be worse (in terms of contrast/colour). Assuming the TV is 6 ft wide and there are more than 2 people watching, at least one of them will be outside the line of the edges of the TV I think ...

Cheers,
Robin

Went for the Samsung 7000 jobby trigger pulled....

Now how do I get my audio into my amp... I guess I need a DAC to convert the optical out to RCA phono?

What audio Amp?

Ideally, you need an a/v processor or at the least, a 2.1 soundbar.

Remember, tv is not stereo these days.

Ps. Make sure if you get an a/v processor make sure it supports 4k hdmi

Nothing as complicated as that Scuffers. I've just a standard 2 channel Cambridge Audio HIFI amp with a set of Tannoy revolution floor standers just need to get a 2 channel RCA input for that from the optical out.

Cheers for all the help folks :-)

Currently looking at TVs for the cinema room. Not massively convinced by the cheaper OLED (930V) from LG. While the picture is great there was quite a lot of noticeable judder when panning that would annoy me. The next model up from LG didn't display any of this and is also 4k but it's over 2 grand and I don't watch enough TV to spend that much.

I'm also not massively convinced by a lot of the 4k screens. Given a lack of 4k content it's the SD and HD performance that really matters more and lots of them are pretty poor.

I saw an HDR demo at a customer last week and it was stunning. Colour and contrast was incredible. Better than 4k as the picture improvement is noticeable from normal viewing distances where the benefit of 4k on 55" screens is marginal. CES 2016 is soon and I expect High Dynanic Range tellys to be the focus for the TV pundits.

Currently in a Belgium restaurant and taken control of their Sonos Play 5 and stopped their crappy foreign sh*t to play ELO. They are wondering what's happened. Lol.

If was more a blurring effect in darker areas when showing fast motion (it can only display 300 lines for fast motion like LCDs) plus the colour accuracy seemed a bit off. The contrast was on another level and the best I've seen (HDR aside). Our current telly is later generation Panasonic plasma which I think offers more accurate colours and better motion clarity.

I'm still connected to it from my bedroom so I'm playing some Metallica now. Lol. What i didn't realise until now is that they have 7 Sonos speakers all around the hotel and they are all synced. Lol.

Yep. these work pretty well -

http://www.cypeurope.com/store/store/ap ... -Converter

Available all over the place online for £40-50

It's got a 5v power supply, so could you power it from a USB if you have the correct cable and save you a power socket.

There is NO reason at all for a TV to be curved it's just another gimmick/ sh*t way to get people to throw away perfectly good 2 year old TVs to buy a new one.

BTW If you have bought a Samsung - look in among the menus in most of them and you will find test patterns to allow you set it up properly (well as properly as they can be)
