And JB showed the Young Pretender there's still no substitute for hard earned experience :-)

And at least Alonso didn't retire it in the cream puff.

Lewis been partying too hard?

Gone off him lately, turning into a bad loser and starting to sound supercilious.

And get those half ton of gold chains off your fcuking neck, you look like a drug dealer or a jumped up American rapper.

He would still dick you tut, even with his gold chains ;-) They are racing drivers - they are supposed to be bad losers! He could have beaten Nico by 1-stopping but wasn't allowed to by his team; instead they constructed a crazy strategy for him that meant 2-stops and running 1.5 seconds a lap slower than Nico by the end of the stint and then put him on the same rubbish tyres even though he only had 15 laps left and could have used the faster super soft. I would have been pissed off too ...

But have the team any preference for Rosberg winning over Hamilton? Does not make sense as long as they get 1,2.

Rosberg has taken the last six pole positions and won the last three races with an engine that has done twice the miles of his team mates, which indicates that he has upped his game and Hamilton seems to have lost his edge. He says not, but since he is already World Champion he may not have the same incentive to push to the limit.

Indeed, made no sense to me to keep Lewis out so long if he was not going on to the super softs.... the team trying to keep Nico happy???

Tut, I bet he'd be disgusted with you not wearing shoes and I also bet you don't care. :thumbsup

Lewis has been fairly magnanimous in defeat lately and much better than he was in the past.

Race was dull and I was glad that my TiVo box had actually recorded the Davis cup tennis. :thumbsup

There's no doubting Nicola Rosbeard can drive but has he's shown time and again he's weak in the head. The minute the pressure rises he falls apart. Inspector Morse beat him in the car, beat him out the car, and had more fun along the way. Nicola is only marginally quicker than Lewis when Lewis is out partying like it's 1999. Nicola tries hard at trying hard. Lewis is just a better racing driver and Nicola knows this. Next year Ferrari may well be there or thereabouts and Vettel has shown he's more than just a good car driver so Nicola will need to be on his game. He might get more mature and stronger willed the older he gets but I doubt it. He's the least likeable driver on the grid which is something given the antics of Maldadildo.

"Nicola Rosbeard" - Haha

Totally agree. Both drivers have been pathetic in the past with their sulking and good to see Lewis finally grow up a bit. Do think he has taken his foot off once he wrapped up the title.

One great plus out of this season has been the young drivers. Max Verstappen has been brilliant to watch at times and he was born in late 1997!! Let that sink in.

Tyre strategies, tyre strategies... <yawn>

Merc gave Lewis and his side of the pitwall free rein on strategy yesterday after the criticism after the previous race In Brazil. It didn't work out, they got it wrong. They were reluctant to go for super softs with his unsurmountable deficit with some 15 laps to go as he didn't have an unused set and they were worried they'd fall off the cliff * which would see him lose places at the end. It would have been a more entertaining/engaging race had he just followed usual Merc strategy and immediately mirrored Nico's stop on the following lap (even if ultimately that ended up a stalemate like Brazil, at least we'd have seen them 'racing').

Arguably the need to stop for another set of tyres when the two Mercs were 1 sec apart (with Rosberg apparently on graining tyres, thus losing pace) deprived us of what may have been an entertaining race for the win.

* That damned cliff.... today Pirelli are quoted as being frustrated they have but one test now to make that cliff 'closer' to once again increase the number of enforced pit stops in a race. More strategy, more undercuts, less genuine/meaningful on-track racing.

Meh.

[edit to add] I'm not in favour of indestructible tyres that permit flat out driving every lapwith zero wear (that would have made recent seasons more dull as dominant cars weren't tyre-limited), but rather the way they suddenly drop off in terms of lap time. The cliff thing.

What has always frustrated me a bit with F1 is the dominance that one team has with the right car. It kind of ruins the racing a bit. There are several stunningly capable drivers' on the grid but because their cars are a bit pants we don't get the racing the fans want. Can you imagine if Vettel spring water, Hamilton Accies, Hulkencheeseburger, Rosbeard, Verstopit, Ricccardxksofdpdo, Alibongo, and Bottom all had similarly paced rides. It would be terrific. Add in the odd lucky tyre choice for Benjamin Button and it would be racing worth watching. As it is, I watch the qualifying generally, the start and first few laps and then wander off and do something more interesting instead.

Highlights of the F1 race.

All the more reason for us to map the BTCC 2016 diary into our calendar and try to get to some more of those in person.

Croft. Oulton and Donnie are all do-able at low travel budget esp if camping. Would also like to experience Rockingham.
