Post by tut » Thu Sep 10, 2015 3:44 pm

Has anybody had the rear wire snap and replaced it?

Is it definitely snapped tut?

The nut in the centre of mine under the little flap had came undone and just needed reconnecting.

Yes my wire snapped last month and I got murrys to replace under warranty. But... It's an easy fix. Buy the part, undo both tiny Allen bolts each end, unthread out then just put back in using some thread loc when reassembled. Also yes the centre part of the wire disconnects to where you tension it up

Get one of these. It's a lass from the Vx forum and it's better than the std lotus one.

Thanks Martin, I also saw that, it looks better than the original and was just about to ask Clarky if it was suitable, but looks as if he has it in hand.

ps:- fixed the wiper stalk Clark, the inside grub screw grips it OK.

Have not had the car out since KH as the S/C belt needs replacing, there is a severe vibration at speed on track which has not been diagnosed yet, and a headlamp HID is out. However had to use her today to go into the village as the Honda is in for servicing. Unfortunately the front of the roof raised but fortunately did not rip off, so the front wire has snapped as well.

Is this the same as the rear tension wire or are they different?

Ive ordered the rear on ebay, already just waiting for it to arrive,

Ill have a look for a front, cant see it being any different to be honest, but ill check.

Ill come up next weekend and change the belt for the new one I put in the boot of the car and do the wires at the same time.

Thanks Clark, I have a Plan B for the drive shaft vibration if that is the cause, involving the AA and Monty.

Aye - I thought that's what we had pretty much discussed at KH?
