Abz Visit

Post by Simon82 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 5:30 pm

Heading up to Aberdeen 28th-1st for a course and will be staying in the Summer hill hotel.
If anyone fancies a couple of pints then give me a shout :thumbsup
Also if anyone needs anything bringing down to Craig's/Murrays I could bring them back down with me Thursday afternoon/evening.
Alternatively could come up in the exige if anyone fancies a midweek evening run

If I'm about that week I'd be up for a couple of pints or a run if I've got the car back by then.
I'm not convinced that hotels one you'd want to leave an Exige outside overnight though.

Cool stuff Neil, I guess it doesn't have a secure car park then? Unfortunately I don't get to pick where I stay it's down to the company. Exige or RS is the options so I guess ones as bad as the other
I'll make a choice nearer the time and see if anymore takers come along

Nope, you definitely don't want to take any car and if you're going for a pint you absolutely do not want to go to the bar at the hotel.

I'll be around for a catch up.

Gary.

A bit cheeky and use customer parking over the road at Pete Vardy Jaaaag?

Can't wait now

Is it worse than the central hotel/station hotel? Stayed there before and the premier inn by the airport but apparently it's getting refurbed so that's why I'm in the summer hill hotel....

Anyone offer a space on their drive for a week?

If you're happy to have a wee walk from the hotel to your car you could street park on one of the side streets just the other side of Anderson Drive, somewhere between Mid Socket and King's Gate... Should be fine there and I don't think it's permit only.

Use the Park and Ride. Drive out of town for a few miles and then get the bus back in. :damnfunny

Don't go downstairs to the local pub called Summerhill Lodge, it's like the bar from Star Wars at the weekend.

Joking aside, I think that the hotel rooms are reasonable for anything work related, but don't stay there if coming on holiday and definitely don't park the Exige around the local streets overnight.

The hotel is much better inside than its exterior would perceive....but as said, wouldn't leave anything nice outside

Hire vehicle a must.

:withstupid I hadn't thought of that. Only 5 minutes walk and the car will be in a far safer area

That could be an idea then, or try to get them to change the hotel, any recommendations?

At the moment it looks like you'll get Malmaison for £123 a night B&B which would be my first choice - looks like the Summerhill must be £90-100 a night so it's a bit more. If your company can't stomach that the the Hilton Treetops looks similarly priced to the Summerhill. The Treetops is a bit past it's best but at least it's got decent off road parking.
