Well done Mark hope to join you some day. I seem to remember being slagged about driving a S2

Don't leave it too long, your S2 would be my car of choice rather than my lowly K series

It did darken things down, didn't get rid of the white but improved the look. Still not as good as I want it, linseed oil next then dye lol... just need to get the feckers off to dye them hmmmmm

Re: back in a Lotus at last...
I suspect that filling the porous surface with a variety of oils will be counterproductive if you plan on applying a new finish to the plastics - you will need to degrease before you start.
Personally I wouldn't waste a millisecond on this activity, but looking at the damage to these plastics I suspect the only way to return them to original shinyness is to sand them back and apply a new finish (plastic coating or paint; paint will likely get eroded more quickly than a plastic coating).
I don't think they are that hard to remove.
Cheers,
Robin

Robin is absolutely correct, for any of these dressings to work correctly they need to be applied to a surface free of any oils. An IPA wipe down is ideal....

Another vote for GTechniq C4, below is a 50/50 from when I applied it to my X5, the tiny bottle sitting on the road was enough to do the full car with a little left over. It's not cheap though...

IPA wipe? What is that, where do I get some?
To be fair the Mini and X5 look very presentable before, mine is shagged, I'd happily spend the cash if I knew it'd work on plastic as damaged as mine, all the plastics on the internet videos don't look nearly as far gone as mine to start with

Re: back in a Lotus at last...
IPA = Isopropyl Alchohol - you get it in bottles, sprays and perhaps also in wipes (like baby wipes).
IPA is a good general purpose solvent that will remove greasy marks off stuff. I would suspect that by the time you've rubbed peanut butter & linseed oil into something, it might well be time to remove and put in the dishwasher and then wipe with IPA - otherwise you might need a lot of IPA to remove all that grease.
Cheers,

Have you tried PlusGas on your stuck bolt? It'll normally get anything to move.

I've not Neil, had a look for stockists and Euro Car Parts seem to be my closest so will give it a bash, thanks!
Black Wow, I was a bit dubious putting that into a google search,
Seems to do the trick, however the videos on-line are the exact same videos I saw for a different product yesterday...
I have sent pics of the damaged bits to Polished Bliss for evaluation and recommendation, awaiting their response

Re: back in a Lotus at last...
The body shop got the side vents off the car and it kinda explains why I was struggling, they were tigersealed in
I've washed them well in the sink, but they're still a state, anyone recommend a detailer locally (Edinburgh) who can sort them or are they needing painted or coated.
I'll pop some pics up in a minute. so that you can see the current state, pretty much the same as the previous pics.

Hmmmmmmm cosidering painting them and all grills gloss black??
Thanks
Mark

Might be worth a plastic restorer product first. Can't hurt
