It's cricket. Scotland has a cricket team. There is every possibility that Scotland's cricket team ranks higher in the world than Scotland's football team. Makes you wonder why they don't invest more in cricket and less in football ... test matches might not be everybody's cup of tea, but 20:20 matches are probably comparable to football matches in terms of attention span required, pie eating opportunities, etc.

I played cricket in Oz. It was indoor cricket but they play it outside

It was probably the most boring 'sport' I've ever tried. Lasted four games before I lost interest and took up knitting.

They're not, just the football team are worse

Scotland are 12th in the world T20 rankings (that's a quick game of cricket, typically lasting no more than a couple of hours

); they don't feature in the bigger matches (one day internationals and five day tests) because they don't play them (yet). They are heading up the rankings, though.

Scotland are 32nd in the world FIFA rankings (they're in charge of football, apparently) and moving downwards quickly.

So in most senses we're better at cricket than football, and if you factor in the ratio of investments into the two games, we're absolutely brilliant at it (or we really really suck at football!). Of course you have to ignore the fact that Scotland are 12th out of 15-ish whereas in football we're 32nd out of 200-ish

I don't actually watch cricket (or football) you understand - but I do follow the ashes scores from time to time, much like I might know who is in the semi finals of the football world cup.

Tut, they ended up 60 all out - England must now work out how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - and I am sure the Australians will be there to help them along!
