Sounds a bit too cosy for my liking!

Looking at ferry crossings now, what are peoples thoughts for the return trip?

Out on thursday, back 23-4-5?

I'm now musing about a Walshy day en route.

http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... hp?t=39883

If it ends up being Fri 14th Aug, then I'm minded to leave Edin at 3am on the Fri, attend N Weald, then do IBIS Calais that evening - much like the 2010 Spa trip.

I then wouldn't do Zandvoort on the Sat. So have from brekky Sat to sundown Sunday to get to the IBIS Orange.

Does this offer scope for some drivers' roads en route? Maybe by overnighting at Dijon?

Or do I just jump in my new GT car, engage the aircon, set cruise for 90 (indicated) and strafe the Autoroute all the way to Orange (10 hrs) ? Putting me in the bar for 7pm and by the pool all day Sunday instead.

Discuss.

Lol. I'll take my new rears with me on the back seats for local fitting after the floggings have finished!

Beware of EU Speed camera's !!!!

Just read an article in Auto Express advising EU rule change as of May where individual countries will now pursue offenders for Speed Camera offences etc. As you know, previously you had to be stopped at the time of the offence. Main change is they will now can hunt you down with a fine. The main plus point is they can't issue any points to your licence, but you sure could rack up a fair sized bill over a long trip through Europe if your not careful.

At least it shouldn't have any effect on the Peage GP

Hm. Scotty...it's either that or the Route Napoleon en route to Orange. Which would you recommend?!

Briancon to Vizille is good too. We drove it last year when over for Le Tour, albeit in the motorhome, but wishing I was in the Lotus at the time.

Col d'Izoard and Col de la Bonette (this was the one your brother did) are some of the best driving in the south of the France.

If you near Gorge Verdon and you have a couple of hours in the evening (too busy during the day) well worth a trip.

We did the loop one evening and its WAY up there with the best driving experiences of all time.
