I was hoping to start track days this year - would this session suit a beginner? I must admit i would feel slight anxiousness booking up

would be totally fine.T6 KFR wrote:I was hoping to start track days this year - would this session suit a beginner? I must admit i would feel slight anxiousness booking up
i started going to track scotland and SIDC in much more lowly cars and nerves, but SIDC is very well run. Plus usually instruction available on the day. The bonus is most of the impreza drivers club is full of lotii!!! likely a few going form aberdeen.
ps i will go pay now as well John, HNY btw!

SIDC tends to be where you will find the best track etiquette too.
They have a warm up session. Following that, I would recommend going out as a pax for a few laps with another SE'r and then get stuck into it.

Magic, I might just make that with the new car.JohnStewart wrote:just had an update from Knockhill, and they have had to move our May track event to the 23rd, with SLS taking place in the afternoon.
Here's hoping.

Some of the best run trackdays by far. We all felt the same on our first time. Plenty of advice and help around at these.Dominic wrote:istoo wrote:would be totally fine.T6 KFR wrote:I was hoping to start track days this year - would this session suit a beginner? Agreed. I'm slower than a slow thing but the SIDC days are excellent.Mikie711 wrote:Some of the best run trackdays by far. We all felt the same on our first time. Plenty of advice and help around at these.Dominic wrote:istoo wrote: would be totally fine.

Don't be shy though... Get some pax laps before you venture out yourself.
If you are really nervous people have put P or L plates on the car before.... Not necessary but it means people know it's your first time and will be careful around you.

I have not done a fraction of the track days some on here have, but the SIDC days are really well run. I had my 17 yr old daughter drive my car with instructor on such a day with no worries at all and she had hardly passed her test and was not a 'kart kid'. Had never been near a track before in her life....and it was anti clockwise. Both car and daughter survived intact...
If you want to break the ice, some of those going to KH in March will also be going to a Kart night in Aberdeen, BofD, this coming Monday 19th. details on this forum at;

Re: SIDC at Knockhill Saturday 28th March
I recently had my car (Yota S2 Exige) serviced at Carden Motor Company in Aberdeen and they seemed to know their stuff, but then again only needed a headlight adjustment. Give them a call and see what they say. The guy is a Honda specialist but the replacement of toe links is not a complex task for a competent mechanic and a simple one for someone who knows their way around a Lotus.
