Have now seen a few Ring fail videos. Some examples of excellent recovery (or luck?) and some real biggies - which serves to underline the lack of runoff. There really is no margin for error, so the "spirited B road run" mantra is very wise.
I thoroughly enjoyed 2 of my 3 trips to the Ring. The middle one, in which I did 18 laps with some of the SE crew including the usual quality mentoring from Robin, Giles and Ross, was before UK insurance abandoned the circuit. It was epic and I'm thrilled to have been able to do it. My third trip was merely as a spectator and it's unlikely I'll ever take my own car on it again. Perhaps wouldn't rule out a trackday, but Spa is cheaper and trackday or public day, the Ring has the same lack of runoff :-/
Oh and my first trip was in torrential rain, on Pirelli P Zero tyres, in the Elise, when it was barely 3 months old. The place scared the crap out of me. I still went back, clearly...
