Great to see Chris Hoy get the Lifetime Achievement Award, especially in Glasgow, one of the true greats.

I think Mcllroy should have won it, but I heard on the radio this morning that Hamilton got twice the votes of Mcllroy

The result is more telling of the people who call and vote for these awards than anything else. I do not know what the demographics of such things are but as a wild guess the type of people on this forum will not have called and voted. Most are probably just too tight to part with the cash and the rest ambivilent to the result. Those that are voting will think that Hamilton is a dude (or whatever the equivilent phrase is nowadays) as well as a great driver etc etc. For me McIlroy should have got is as he does have a personality. I should add I do not play golf and I do not really like the sport per se, due to its elitist nature (and the fact every time I have tried it the ball refuses to go where I want it to) :? 8) :?

Why? Like him or loathe him being double world F1 champ is still a massive achievement and he didn't have it all his own way this year.

I would have put money on McIlroy too (maybe not at Tut's bookies though). Have to say though, when I saw Lewis in the audience I couldn't help thinking he would have bothered coming if not to pick up the trophy. :)

Sports Personality is the wrong name for the program, Sports Performance would be more apt.
As soon as I heard the nominations my money was on Lewis H, not because I think he deserved it more than the likes of Jo Pavey (who should have won in my book) but because F1 is such a high profile sport. The win that still alludes me is Ryan Giggs ! At best Lifetime Achievement but not overall winner.

That was the year that it "should" have been Button's. I think that surprised, if that is the right word, a lot of people myself included.

Yes he did really well this year to beat his team mate.

Rory has come back for dropping down the world rankings to win many tournaments 2 majors and was amazing at the Ryder cup. He really is a great sportsman, true gent and also a good ambassador for the uk and golf.

I'm not a fan of golf, not really a sport in my eyes but I do like Rory, if it really was for 'personality' he should've got it.
Surprised by the result tbh. Thought golf was far more popular than F1
