Help needed on Sunday...

Post by Uldis » Thu Oct 12, 2006 11:19 am

... to put on the big roof truss (and main beams).
Will be finalizing the pointy sides (whatever they are called) on Saturday and the truss base on Sat but can't lift the bigg truss on my own.

Now, it's not only a matter of strong, tall people, I think we will also need some strong tall ladders. The roof beams are 3.5m tall, so I would assume some 2m tall ladders are called for.

Anybody has got some? I'll be buying a roof ladder to install all the roof boards and shingles, and have only one (about 1.8m tall) ladder, but being a tight mexican didn't want to spend £300 for two ladders that I'm going to use only once.

Any ideas?
Who's up for it?

Excellent!, I'll get one of those 3.5m doubles on Sat then.

Ok, so far we have Ali. Gareth doesn't think his flimsy arms will be able to handle some wood beams.

What next Gareth? power steering in the Exige? ;) :P

Anybody else?

If you haven't already got your ladder, I've got a couple that I could give you for the day.

Not sure if I'll be able to help out though.

On PC @ home so could post them tonight. :)
Some good pics showing the scale of the thing!

We got on quite well and finished all the roof beams, and raised the centre truss a little with some spacers.
'Just' the roof boards to go on now but we couldn't figure out the remaining bits of the jigsaw (finishing boards for the sides and ends).

Excellent.
Better sort it out soon though. I guess one more month before bad weather sets in. We've been lucky so far.

I reckon it could be finished with another 3 days of work but then you have to weather proof it - paint.
