S2 heater temp.
The heater on my S2 is awesome. It's event hot when it's on the cold setting. There is an issue with the heater resister thing that stops it blowing so hard. Waiting on mine going as it seems pretty common. I've got to open the window when the heater's on cold and the roof is on cause it's too hot.

I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on here) that the issue with them sticking on hot even when at the cold setting is due to the flap being gunged up with crap coming in through the intake at the front.BigD wrote:The heater on my S2 is awesome. I think you're right I do remember reading that too but haven't had a chance to look at it. It didn't bother me that much as when the aircon is on it blows really cold so could get it cold that way.Mellow Yellow wrote:I'm sure I read somewhere (possibly on here) that the issue with them sticking on hot even when at the cold setting is due to the flap being gunged up with crap coming in through the intake at the front.BigD wrote:The heater on my S2 is awesome. Re: S2 heater temp.
D - from memory there are two control mechanisms for the heater based on what vintage car or perhaps whether or not is has AC.
Anyway, assuming your car is both older and has no AC then it will be a cable control:
http://www.deroure.com/images/diagrams/14/18_09.gif
The temperature "control" cable simply opens and closes a flap that controls airflow over the matrix (possibly it shuts off coolant flow too/instead - cannot remember).
Anyway - step one to get it to go cold is to see whether when you turn the knob anything happens in the services compartment - if not you can try to manually operate the control arm. If you cannot get that to work, you can also bypass the heater matrix simply by removing the hoses and splicing them together with a suitable bit of metal pipe.
Cheers,
Robin

Re: S2 heater temp.
I am running at a steady 81 whereas old N3 was 88-90, so I presume that Keith put a low temp thermostat in the PRT.
In the old days we used to block off part of the intake grill with a piece of cardboard, and you could actually buy made to measure jackets which were adjustable.
Tried a make shift solution on N1 but it did not last.
