Which Go-Pro.

Post by pete » Sun Nov 09, 2014 9:59 pm

Little Miss Pete (10) wants a Go-Pro to record her MTBing exploits (largely descending Glentress slowly).

Any suggestions?

(Laziest post ever. I'm guessing GP HERO3 white so it's wireless, am I missing 'owt?)

Sounds like overkill mate . There are some on amazon around £60 that would do the job. Look at the HP ac100w I think. Just need a mount for handlebars and job done.

It's on her list. Do you want me to explain to her on Christmas morning that Santa has got one that is nearly as good?

I can think of 360 reasons why I'd say yes! GIven she's ten mate (knowing how long it would have been till I'd have broken one at that age) but entirely your call.

As Ape says Go Pro are launching a new £99 entry model - http://www.amazon.co.uk/GoPro-CHDHA-301 ... rds=go+pro

I'd give that a punt - the people making use of the full functionality of the Go Pro black etc models are about 2% of those buying, so unless you envisage her doing some serious video editing, this should be idea for your needs.

Also Go Pro 4 is the new one, but Best Buy in the US are getting all the initial stock - the UK will only 12k units pre-Xmas.

Amen, so many folk with these cameras an not using them to their fuil extent for slo mo etc. With the Black our not with usable 4k this gap will grow even more. How big for a 30 min 4k clip?!

SJ4000 Chinese GoPro copy for <60 quid. Decent results apparently and decent reliability (from what I've read, not personal experience!!) Plenty of comparison videos available online for quality.

My daughter is only 10 months so I've not been in your situation, but if she asked me for a GoPro at 10, 'sling yer hook' would come to mind, followed by looking at the scar on my elbow from when I yanked the front brake too hard at 14 and skidded along the road with the bike on top of me.

As for the accuracy of the previous statement, ask me again in 9 years :blackeye

A pre-teen with their heart set on a particular present will be scarred for life by a cheap copy of the desired product. Buy the copy at your own risk......

I use a Contour HD which I got through EBay for about £100 brand new. Used it lots for Karting and some mountain biking at Glentress.

It comes with a few mounts for different helmets and lots of settings for video and sound adjustment, can record up to 1080p and at 60fps. Would recommend it highly
