and the tie-in with Renault on the new Alpine has now been 'bought out' and will be a Renault only with no Caterham version , so Caterham is back to being a one trick pony for now. :?

Edit to add: The Alpine looks rather good in those pictures, although like everything else it is a touch larger than the original version

Caterham F1now sold
Caterham F1 Team is pleased to confirm that Tony Fernandes and his partners have sold the team to a consortium of Swiss and Middle Eastern investors, advised by former F1 Team Principal Colin Kolles.

Under the terms of the sale, the team will continue to race as Caterham F1 Team and will remain based at Leafield for the foreseeable future.

The new ownership takes charge with immediate effect. Former Dutch F1 driver, Christijan Albers, assisted by Manfredi Ravetto, will take over the day-to-day running of the team, reporting directly to the board and replacing Cyril Abiteboul who will leave the team to pursue new challenges.

Christijan Albers:"We are aware of the huge challenge ahead of us given the fight at the bottom end of the Championship and our target now is to aim for tenth place in the 2014 Championship. We are very committed to the future of the team and we will ensure that the team has the necessary resources to develop and grow and achieve everything it is capable of."

It is hard to imagine the butt kicking that the legals at the swiss vc firm are going to receive ... "So, you handed over the money, didn't get the shares, didn't get the cars and now you've lost your race license because you failed to attend the last 3 races of the season?" ... they may as well paint targets on their heads and run around the firing range :-)

Cheers,
Robin

I don't think they handed over the money - that's the problem. Some reports suggesting that this was little more than 'try before you buy' arrangement. Which ever way you look at it, it'll be damaging for the Caterham Group.

The articles suggest otherwise - monies paid but share certificates not handed over so they are on a really sticky wicket trying to get money back. As Robin says they aren't going to be very popular with the boss!! :?

Catrham's CEO: "In short the new owners have paid us nothing and now the administrators have been appointed they want to walk away from their liabilities.”

The problem is we you don't know who's telling the truth.

from the BBC article "It continued: "Engavest SA has fulfilled all the conditions precedent, including paying the purchase price for the shares.
"The shares have not been transferred and therefore Mr Fernandes remains the owner of Caterham F1 and is fully responsible for all its activities."

But your right, who knows what is factual, there appears to be conflicting stories and toys departing prams on all sides ( it looks like 3 sides involved too  )

If you've been trying to tell the world that Caterham F1 is nothing to do with Caterham Cars, how about this for a PR disaster . . .

Sadly neither Caterham or Marussia are going to be racing in USA which probably suggests the season is finished for both.
Let's hope they get sorted out over the winter and are back next season ( or for Abu Dhabi)
