I have crashed my car on sat night
i was driving past the Maybury Casino in Edinburgh towards the forth road bridge. i was going round the round about onto the dualer and floored it a bit when i got onto the dualer. At about 60mph on 2nd gear a cat/fox ran out in front of me. i kind of twitched my steering wheel trying to avoid hitting the animal and my back end just gave way. i know i shouldn't have twitched the steering especially in the wet as the tyres on Exige are not the gripiest in the wet! Anyways i spung round twice and ended up on the other side of the road, up the kerb and my rear end hit a tree!
Luckily, my tyre took most of the impact agianst the kerb and it didn't hit the tree too hard. driver side rear clam is cracked quite a bit, but i think it should be repairable without the need to get a new clam.
im so gutted, but lucky how there was not a barrier separating the roads otherwise who knows what would have happended if i had gone into the barriers. Also there weren't any cars coming the opposite way.

Hi Gareth,
my sister borrowed my camera, but i might use my phone to take a few pics.
It was still very driveable, i had to take it to Kwik fit on sunday morning to blow the tyre back out, but the traction seems to be fine and drove up to Aberdeen without any problems. the cars seems to drive as if it's never been in an accident. i think its cosmetic damage only.
Think i'll be taking it to PPS in Inverurie to get a quote.

Sounds like a lucky escape.....
Is 60mph in 2nd in the exige not quite high revs ? I cant remember exactly, but I always keep it below 4k in mine if its damp / wet.
Keep it safe out there its coming into crash season.....

have to say I thought that too

bad luck fella, hope it all gets sorted out ok. I did mine in last year the same way (minus the fox/cat) and I've learnt that its best to have all 4 wheels pointing the same way if you've got a heavy right foot at this time of year.

7700 rpm... (roughly).
Yup, always best to keep it lowerdown the rev range but even then you can't just boot it. Throttle modulation...
Sorry to hear that Simon.

Sounds like it could have been much worse though!

Sorry to hear that - don't like hearing about broken Exiges
Suggest trackdays as a remedy - once you've thrashed it round a circuit,
slightly less inclination to drive like Kubica*/Scott Speed*/insert other inexperienced F1 driver*/ on the road

I guess lift off meant engine braking to rear wheels, & swerve on steering = handbrake turn!
Been there (back wheels going slower than car due to engine braking - not fun when not expected)

Simon
worth a wee look at the suspension - can be done well locally
glad to hear you are scratch-free, given where you crashed
