On the intimacy thing..... Why isn't it happening in edinburgh just now? Why do we have to wait for independence to get a new breed of politician? Surely we should have them now and they should be inspiring me to give them more power?

Because there are outside influences at play, Scottish Labour, Torry and Lib's manifesto is not written only for Scotland.

So post indy we are suddenly going to see a reawakening of amazing politicians who've been constrained and not allowed to say what they feel?

I have my doubts.

I said to one of my wife's pals last night.... I'll throw my heart and soul into whatever happens..... To make it work.... But if it's yes I'm preparing myself for a massive Obama type backlash from the people when the unicorns don't turn up.

Salmond came across better this time. Still can't stand him. Unfortunately I don't think Darling did a good job.

The bit at the end was pretty dire when they both shouted at each other but, leaving the politics aside and just looking at the rest of the debate, Darling was awful. Riled, angry and frustrated it wasn't going as well as last time.

Not sure why Darling is being used, I thought it would have been a Tory Cabinet Minister.

Or is it just because he is a Scottish Labour MP.

Ultimately, Darling doesn't have the swagger Salmond has on stage. He's a bit too stuttery and less confident in his presentation. Someone like Charles Kennedy would have been a better match in these situations.

Salmond has essentially been saying the same things for ~30 years (but updated with modern whinges like Bedroom tax, Trident, Tory cuts). So its no surprise he is a lot slicker and more confident in presenting his ideas and whinges in front of people.

As usual, the vocal minority of nationalists clapped their hands and yelped with the vigorousness of dolphin at a sea-life center being fed a fish everytime Salmond put a point across.

The fault of both sides that I don't think any undecideds would have come out the other end much the clearer / wiser...

Watched it last night… I will never get that time back.

Completely pointless exercise IMHO - little more than a shouting match; a weak chair having no authority or control; Salmond strutting around the platform thus making it a personality/image thing; refusal to answer questions; and political point-scoring from audience members.

The whole debate seems based on selfish greed, and little else *. That saddens me.

* obviously, there's also the democracy-fail "tory government we didn't vote for" line.

These sort of things wind me up, but I did watch it. The arguments were so polarised that I doubt it would have changed any YES or NO votes. But on the 'undecided', I think the YES may have had a better day. I'm just getting more and more nervous about the outcome, whatever it is. I suspect it will impact most of us for many years to come.

Most important of all is getting the negotiations with Westminster right in the first place.

Yes Scotland is a great place to live, there's nothing to say it can't continue that way under either system but independence from Westminster could let us ensure it does. Under the present system we have very little financial control.
Well negotiations for FREEEDDDOOOMMMMMM start in 5 weeks time if the YES team win

Where are the right people?

Are you hiding them under your bed?

As they certainly ain't in the SNP and highly doubtful they are in the scottish parliament thought the kick boxing lesbian does seem to rise above the rest of them

I think you've been watching too many movies.

Where are the right people? Who knows but they're certainly not under my bed - your replies are becoming more absurd.

I'm trying to put up as reasonable a discussion as I can, this doesn't help.

Okay i will be reasonable

Where are the right people for negotiating our separation from the UK

Do you think Alex Salmond will get us a excellent deal?

come on

Yes or NO

And if NO then who is going to be negotiating on our behalf

You want me to vote YES

You give me some answers as the clock is ticking

I don't see the talent or skill in the scottish government to get us anything other then a fantastically sh*t deal

As what can we offer?

The oil?

Nope that is all going into the oil fund

Threaten to walk from the debt?

Sounds scary doesn't it

However

A wee statement made back in january kind of negates that threat

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25707218

The UK treasury have already said if we walk fro the debt it isn't a problem as they will happily pick up the tab

Apart from unleashing Tut on them we don't have many cards on the table
