Another well organised day from the SIDC boys - thanks again John.
I found the track very cold and just couldn't get any temps into the 48's. With hindsight I should have realised that track temps would be low and loosened off the ARB accordingly - but you live and you learn.
Managed to get some laps in with SimonA - it's good to see the progress made over the season, although I think I would prefer if he still had a bit more to go rather than being on pace with me.
Found it really hard to concentrate on track driving - not sure if I had half an mind that this would soon be Mandy's car or on the purchase of a caterham.
When you add the mental image of Tom "fisting" Jamie's rear exit appature then it's hardly suprising

Missed the 135R today
Started to get quicker near the end, just didn't have much confidence in the tyres although with the low temp they were not that bad.

I'll report back on 888s - the A048's make a bigger difference than the power does - but remember that on the road, the T1R is going to save your bacon when you hit unexpected road surfaces (like mud pulled off the farms by tractors) and inches of standing water.
The 888s were 440 for the set, fitted. The T1Rs are about 250 IIRC. The A048Rs are nearer 600 I think (though yours had about 58p of rubber on the back at the end of the day

After thinking that I had probably finished my Trackdays, it was great to get back on today and really enjoy myself.
I had arranged with John that I would do half a dozen laps, see how I felt and how the car went, then decide on whether to carry on. Four hours later and at least 130 laps, I must have decided that I was fit enough to carry on.
Of course I have Robin to thank for the end result, the set of Maxsports he gave me were the equal of the 48R's out there, and it was great to have my power back, 10 tuts extra compared to June on the straights, and being able to pass Exiges again. Neil had a small edge in speed on the straights, but very little in it. Both of us had to work hard to pull away from Robin, and that was only down to extra power. His 135R living upto its reputation of being an excellent track car.
Many thanks to John for giving me a late OAP place, and as always organising a trackday as it should be. I believe that he is looking at a final two hour session in November if there is a free slot.

I ran out of left rear pad near the end
But got a few consolation laps in the WankR at the end (thanks N).
Also drove Gareths car and can say the Toyos were OK. Not the same turn in or corner speed as 48's of course but nice and progressive. Good for sliding.

Tut,
I don't think it's that bad, I'm just turning in a bit later than you. I need the best exit possible to keep the Honda behind (and it still didn't work).
I did have a pax though...
Also, it shows how much the Exige rolls...(either that or it was wee fat Mikey in the pax seat)
