Blandness wise, the similarity in looks doesn't help them, I think modern Aston's fall into the same bracket, since from say the DB9 on, they probably look MORE similar to one another than the same time period of 911...!
Porsche is simply becoming a victim of its own success. They are selling more cars, and making higher quality products that are cheaper to maintain (than the 80s and before) so more are around and being used regularly.
From a car enthusiast point of view, it doesn't help that they make 4x4s, diesels, 4 door saloons and hybrids, but then, without them would we still have the Porches that we want to see, like the GT3s, 918s etc?
Are they less special than they used to be? Probably, but then we are on a website dedicated to those enthusiastic about low volume plastic cars built predominantly to be fun when driven - cars which you could argue DEFINE special.
