It's been a few years now since I owned my S2 exige and decided it was time to change that.
Stumbled across this on PH : great looking motor with performance to match but isit worth 28k on a 05 plate? All lotus prices seem inflated right now , should I hang off from buying ?

Re: Exige 240 Cup
Don't think prices will drop much -in fact they will probably strengthen as the weather improves.
That is quite rich for an 05 - but the 240 Cup is rarer and more desirable so maybe it's justified?? ( think what I'm saying is I don't know)

Weren't those the really limited, first of the supercharged cars Lotus made at the same time as promising they wouldn't release a 'production' SC car.... And the did so within six months?
If so, very rare but probably not worth the premium over a SC car

Thanks for the responses guys, I kinda feel the same it's an awful premium for just as good and newer cars available if I hang on with buying . Although something attracts me to the history of this car and it's limited numbers ....going round in circles hence why I posted. End result I want another lotus

Was my thoughts too, along the lines of a 10+yr old Elise 190 fetching upwards of £20k...GregR wrote:Weren't those the really limited, first of the supercharged cars Lotus made at the same time as promising they wouldn't release a 'production' SC car.... And the did so within six months?

Re: Exige 240 Cup
I would say it's overpriced. I would rather have a 240r for that money!

Re: Exige 240 Cup
Strong Money .....but a few dealers out there are testing what they think the market can stand price wise with the rarer and desirable cars.
It's a bonnie looking car in that colour and it is presented well in the advert.
Have driven a couple of SE'r cars and the noise is certainly addictive and not an easy car to drive sedately.
I would worry about the wheezy or non functioning A/C as the cabins tend to get very hot ........
(I think Nigerian Ali ended up taking sills off and replacing fractured pipes to get his system working)
At that money I would be looking at my grail territory..... S1 Exige or 340R for depreciation free motoring

Re: Exige 240 Cup
Kev,
As I said at breakfast, my money would be aiming for a S1 Exige with £1200-1500 in the slush fund in the event of Head Gasket Failure. How likely is a lottery.
You want reliability though so maybe aim for a 'yota'. That Cup is lovely but for me two K over priced or so. As you can see, Lotus in general are holding some good value. Everything seems to be on the up or standing firm.
Kev, what about speaking to Brandon about this.

Tell me the S1 Exige doesn't trounce the S2 on the looks department!

Re: Exige 240 Cup
£800-£1000 to get the aircon pipes replaced on an S2 Elise last time I spoke to Craig. The pipes are buried in the sill and they need to cut a hole to access.H8OAG wrote: I would worry about the wheezy or non functioning A/C as the cabins tend to get very hot ........

I suspect many sellers re-filled the aircon to get it working before sale.

G, in an ideal world I would buy from MMC again, like their service and professionalism ... With the stock they have versus my budget I would need a good dealGareth wrote:Kev,
