whats the key to a good avatar??
I've tried srinking photos down to the required size but there either tiny, or go pixelated when i try to crop them and blow them up. so how do i get a good quality avatar??
also, who decides what the size limit is, can we increase it??

If you link to an off site avatar then you can get by the size restrictions set on the admin panel.
I usually find a medium quality .jpg resized to about 100 x 80 pixels works well, sometimes takes a bit of fiddling about with.

Crop then shrink, if you try an blow up any image it'll always look crap.
