Spotted - Ultimate K-series for sale

Post by ClarkyBoy » Wed Dec 04, 2013 2:52 pm

I see Sandy Coghill has his Rover 200 for sale again, this time at a far reduced price (probably still a lot for a rover 200)

however, this thing has an awesome engine - pretty sure it would make the ultimate 'K' powered Lotus,

Judd built, ex BTCC 2.0 K,

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 00/1906628#

276 BHP - and from memory, it has always been reliable, the car hold the class record everywhere other than Forestburn ;-)

not something I would be interested in, but thought someone on here might find it of interest

(mods feel free to move into for-sale, I don't really know the guy nor do I have anything to do with the sale, but I thought it was an interesting car)

Wonder if that was at the hubs or fly, can not tell from the graph.

Buy the car, put your standard K engine in it, sell it, new engine in, job done. Becomes a standard A8 road Elise car for the Scottish Championships or the Super Lap Scotland KH series.

Didn't he go and buy a full prep Mk2 Escort and race truck to match?

Yep, I remember standing at the top of Doune and hearing what appeared to be one of the racing cars on the way up, only to see Sandy come round the corner going unfeasibly quickly. I thought I was doing well if I got within several seconds of him last year!

Aye,

Imac was looking at it, but I think Sandy was looking for 12k just for the engine with no TB's or gearbox at the time, which of course was silly money really, so he never bought it - he thought that money was better spent on a rusty old fordy instead  :blackeye

The car does sound immense, goes like sh1t - I was a few seconds off his pace at doune - its a real power hill, but I took a second out of his record at forestburn with a 160 bhp 1100kg bmw :-)

would love a shot of it! if I had the cash i'd likely be keen to do as tut suggested,

the shell its self would lend well to a 1600 engine and running in the Sports and saloons up to 1600 class so a buyer could be found for that and the engine would be best placed in a s1 exige or 340r ?

would make for epic fun!
