When I had my Boxster S - Porsche in Edinburgh wanted £420 to change the oil & that's without a filter change.
apparently, they change the oil filters every 2nd change.
I bought the filter from the Porsche parts dept @ £16 & 2 x 4L of Mobil 1 oil from Costco
Got my mechanic in Leith to change the oil for £25
total bill was about £90

Mate living in warrick, but with own (new house) in glasgow went to timpsons and got two spare sets of keys (8 in total) cut so he could post them to his folks so they could be in for furniture delivery from london.Kugaman1 wrote:Not so much a Dealer piss take, but related.
Guess he thought he could take the piss as he was dealing with a woman? Anyway, needless to say I will get a key cut somewhere else....if I can find somewhere! It seems Timpsons rule the roost for keycutting in the area!
So they get them and travel through from dundee to glasgow. Not one single key worked.
Timpsons tried to point to a small obscure sign (it's on their website too) that they are only 95% success rate and he should have tried them first.
He pointed out that he didn't have a 5% fail rate, but a 100% fail.
Took him about a month, but once he threatened them with small claims, and two independant locksmith reports they coughed up (they were even refusing to refund him for the cut keys originally)
Turns out the cutting stones were that worn they had no chance of fitting.
How many keys had they already cut like that ?

Arrive back at Audi stealer (no dealer, no i was right the first time) where the TT had just had a service, so it would have been 2005.
Handed four page list of "things that require attention" total was around £2500 IIRC.
Take car to local independent VW/Audi garage (who are very well respected)- hand over list, pay £45 for inspection.
Go back later - None of work on list needs done (still hadn't been done when i sold the car about a year later) - thieving b**stards.
On a similar note - boss also had an Audi at the time, also fed up with getting f**ked about by Audi dealer.
Told him to take it to above garage - work done cheaper and better , when collected was advised -

I could probably post a few Porsche Edinburgh comments but on the whole apart form the ridiculous cost of general servicing the best p#sstake was........
'your rear off side indicator bulb is faded, it'll pass an MOT but we could replace it' (Cayman was in for its free winter check)...........'ok!! how much?'..........'£38'......
perhaps not!!!

if evolution don't take care of it, redesign it

No word of a lie - one of the things that keeps Elaine in her Lotus is the knowledge that we're not getting reamed by a dealer. Aye, we could spend time and aggro working out exactly what the best indy to use was for something else fun, who'd do the work right and not try to fleece, but at the moment, the confidence we have in Craig is such that there really is no desire to move away!

Definately makes a big big difference when you find a trustworthy garage.Shug wrote:No word of a lie - one of the things that keeps Elaine in her Lotus is the knowledge that we're not getting reamed by a dealer.
