That's true:-) maybe it was fairer to compare the cayman to an exige:-)
Saying that the new elise s would run a cayman close:-)

Oh, you mean things to do with cars that are "head over heart"?

Nah, it'll never catch on.
Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow ...

Mmmh it could be, although it was a current article and the Roadster is already on the website so it would suggest its not .

Selling in big volumes is relative & probably ' not going to sell by volumes' applies to all Loti but I wouldn't have said the roadster was a big step so maybe not???? :?

Hmmmm. I was at Lotus last week and saw 55 new cars waiting to go to their new homes. 70 doesn't sound right from what I witnessed.

I've been a bit tardy on here due to my holidays, but I will try and right up a wee report on my visit really soon. Lets just say I was REALLY impressed with what I saw and heard - I think there is a very bright future for Lotus :-)

It looks as if the new Racer is identical to the S except that up to 20kg is cut from the Roadster.

The cuts come thanks to lower equipment levels (air conditioning, radio, carpet mats, central locking and some sound deadening have been removed).

And that is supposed to be a new model?

Of course it's not a new model, it's a rather nice new variant of a current one! Makes sense, Elise 1.6CR does very well for us - this looks great, is lighter, new colours etc....and is cheaper....!

Was great to see you and the family Tony, glad you enjoyed your trip - sorry it was quite short, I was up to my neck in board meetings all week. This "Lotus only sold 70 cars" line does my head in....!

So lotus didn't sell a lot of cars in the uk last year ?
We are the 5th year into a recession, which has lasted longer and been deeper that "the great depression" of the 30's.
Bottom line is that most lotus are toys, and not used as a primary form of transport, although some do, it isn't usually the case.
I'd be surprised if there had been a lot sold.
I had to practically give my exige away, as banks aren't giving people loans.

Graham, Is there any info on the Lotus Motorcycles thing that was reported a couple of weeks ago on Facebook and various biking sites ?

I assume its a product under license to the Lotus name/ badge but would be interested on any info about it and if Lotus are involved /supportive etc..

For what its worth I think the S Club Racer is a good call, I just think everyone was excited by the prospect of a new model but in fact its a variation of an existing one .

Am I correct in thinking that this new variant is just 400quid cheaper than the S?

We had the biggest order bank we've had for a new product for many years; we continue to sell them, every day. It is very very good indeed.
