Now viewing it on my laptop so it's fine....offshore tomorrow so tablet will show different again

Anyway, TVR :thumbsup

Agree Niz - new owner chappie sounds like a no-nonsense type, not into the fluff of the limelight, perhaps a little like a certain late Mr Wheeler :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup

I would love to see TVR back, but it is really hard to see how the business could ever stack up given the cost of developing a new car and tooling up to produce it. Lotus hasn't made a penny in the last few years trying to sell low volume sports cars in the 25 to £70k bracket, so what chance an entirely new TVR? Caterham and Aerial manage it by making simple cars that are cheap to manufacture and which don't compete with anything from a major manufacturer. Your potential TVR buyer could always spend his 50 or 60k on a Porsche, M3 or AMG Merc etc. Word has it that Smolensky gave up on TVR when he realised he would have to charge 100k for a Sagaris to make any money. Hope I am wrong though!

He's keeping it incredibly close to his chest, so let's not rule out a platform share, or some other cost cutting measure. I think it's interesting how he constantly makes reference to the DNA of TVR, then points out that this DNA differs dependant on who you ask. Clever really, as he's left a lot of avenues to head down.

Agree though, this is a different world from the one that TVR left - type approval itself, for anything remotely interesting, will be a challenge - given nothing that TVR previously sold could be sold as a type approved car today. Will be interesting to see what they come up with.

I beg to di....you get the gist :blackeye

Maybe my views are based on romantic optimism having run a TVR in their heyday, and loved the twos up attitude that the company stood for. The factory tours were always very interesting :thumbsup

Regardless of the outcome, it'll be an interesting journey to watch, and you know pistonheads will keep a close eye as the website was originated by tvr enthusiasts.

One final thing, I very much doubt there'll be anything in the £25k region, the very cheapest will be upwards of £60k...
