Insurance DB

Post by r10crw » Fri Mar 08, 2013 1:55 pm

Ive got the car Mot'd and insured so want to tax her.

Brought out the insurance two weeks back and they still have not put it on the database so I have to tax it at the post office which wouldn't be an issue if I had the paper part of the MOT!
Of course REIS say it takes three weeks to go on the database but with my fleet policy I have access to the database and can add cars in 10 minutes! Which is what Ill have to do here.

My concern is that the ANPR I would be getting stopped left right and centre because the database is not up to date, is there not some rule that ensures they get the database updated ASAP?

If you've got the cert I wouldn't worry about the ANPR - just carry a copy of the cert on you. I got stopped a couple of years ago about half way through my policy as I'd set off the ANPR in the cop car I'd passed. Ended up being sat there for half an hour as I didn't have the cert on me, and in that time it went off a couple of times with other cars going past. It appears the insurance companies aren't very good at updating the database and if the police stopped everyone who set it off they'd never get anything else done.

They would be so surprised that everything was legal Craig that they would wave you on no problem.

That is if they could catch you........

Tut I'm a good boy....

Like u say Neil I'll take the cert, it's just the inconvenience of being stopped when I've payed my insurance. Just thought reis would be better than that.
