It would be worth looking into the companies that service the offshore power generation. Gas turbines so should be right up your street. It's not my area but wood group and alba power would be worth a look.

You'll be fine matey!

Likeable hardworking chap....

I've just chucked in a job i've done for 7 years, a very nice package for not much stress, to start my own software company with a couple of others. It's been described as a 'bit of a punt', so we've got 8-12 months to prove ourselves!

Day 1 was yesterday, and i think i stopped working at about 12.30am, which never would have been unheard of in my old job, unless drinking counted!

We need a subforum for Startups.

Great news Woody. Also Dave Rag_It too. I share your excitement ;-)

Welcome to an amazing club. And I see there are many more members...

I was encouraged to write down the experiences of year 1 of a new venture - good and bad. I bought the app Day One for iPhone to do just that. Great way to order your thoughts for all those new challenges too.

Best of luck Woody - everyone you talk to (including me) who has been made redundant has moved on to better things, and if you do it quick enough you have plenty of car vouchers left in the bank. :thumbsup
